...Katy Perry's "I Kissed a girl..." and who else smells ONE HIT WONDER!
I am pretty neutral and it, I don't care if it is on or not, but what stations in SLC have maybe banned it and which ones are playing it heavily that you have noticed?? have you heard it?
The reason I say "One hit Wonder" is because for the most part anytime a song gets so much attention for being risque, being the artists first big hit, its hard to get that excitment for any other 'tamer' songs. Anybody agree??

It's getting lots of airplay. I know I've heard it on ZHT, but I believe Mix and Movin and playing it as well. Personally, the song is creepy as all get out. Plus if all the girls start kissing each other, who do they expect I'm gonna kiss?  Cause I ain't kissing no dude. ;D |

I don't care for the song. It better not become 'the song of the summer.' I am very much a fan of "American Girl" by Estelle, instead. On C89.5 - a great dance/CHR station run partially by high schoolers that i listen to from Seattle they are playing both. TBTL, a podcast from there I like, also talked about them both as the song of the summer but they think it will be Snoop Dogg's new one. If I had a guess, I'd say Madonna's "4 Minutes" would be considered the song of the summer. I mean with the cross-promotion with Get Smart and everything.
"I kissed a girl" will probably be remembered as one of those 'creepy' songs like Filter's "Take A Picture."

well off topic just because I'm closer to the coast and well darnit just cause it's heavy in rotation and requested about every other call KID ROCK - All Summer Long I'm calling it the Tahoe Song of Summer As for the above guest posts... www.C895worldwide.com one of the best ran High School stations ever... I had a tour of the studios a couple of years ago they have top notch equipment...I would say one of the best House Music stations around better then the Energy stations in San Fran and Phoenix |

BACKGROUND: I rarely listen to FM radio (unless it's an FM talker). I like to be in control, i.e., I want to listen to what I want to listen to, rather than what some focus group thinks I would like. And I want the ability to skip past or through tracks. So when I want to listen to music, it's usually CD's for me.
Anyway, I was driving my old '75 motor home yesterday and started scrolling thru the FM stations I could pick up on the old and damaged receiver. I stopped on a hip-hop station (no idea which, since the indicator is stuck). I listened for about 45 minutes and was once again reminded 1) Why I hate hip hop, and 2) Why FM radio is dead to me.
So I guess I'm really not missing out on much not having ever heard of Katy Perry or "I Kissed A Girl."
I actually liked that Filter song, though. What was creepy about it?

I like "Take a Picture" too, even own the CD... which isn't quite as 'mellow' as the sound for that song. I am guessing he meant creepy in the sense of "heyyyyy dad!!! What do you think about your son nooooowwww?" Mariner, if you're in the metro, I'm guessing that was "U"92 or "Z-h-T" - you're telling me in 45 minutes you didn't notice a sweeper or imaging liner? That's not so good for diary keeping.  Oh well, in 2010 PPM will change all that... assuming the radio is loud enough to be 'audible.' Yeah, I was more worried about the old motor home overheating on the way to get the black water tank repaired...wasn't paying too much attention to the sweepers. But judging by the position I think my indicator might have been in, likely U92. |

I think I caught that when I randomly landed on The Eagle the other day. I couldn't figure out what was going on with the song but didn't stick around long enough to find out. At least I'm not the only one who thought the song kept switching in the middle. |

(Hi to all on this new board)  Yeah "All Summer Long" is riffs from both. My wife played the crap out of it til I was sick of it before it even hit big. The other day she was up at the station with me and I pulled up "Werewolves Of London" just so she could hear the OTHER song that Kid Rock took something from to make "All Summer Long". Katy Perry comment: Ick. As much as my wife is into modern day CHR (and there's some stuff that's grown on me too) that is NOT one of them she likes, nor do I. We just returned from a 2000 mile cross country trip from Wyoming to New York and let me tell you it was EVERYWHERE on the dial. Sometimes she'll hear something from the 80s on the radio and ask me "Why do you not like that song?" and my answer is "because the radio played the hell out of it when it first came out and everyone I knew LOVED it so I hated it because I was so sick of it."
