I am still getting ready for Phase 2 of my cord cutting (Phase 1 was stopping paying Comcast for tv; I still use them for Internet because there seems to be no better choice). For those of you who already have devices that receive ATSC 3.0 OTA broadcasts, are the 3.0 signals any better right now than those stations' 1.0 simulcasts? Or are improvements still pending/vaporware?
It is my understanding that Channels 2, 4, 14 and 30 now do broadcasting in 3.0. www.watchnextgentv.com/markets/salt-lake-city-ut/ When are the rest planning to get on board? And are for those stations now broadcasting in 3.0, is it just the .1s that are in 3.0 or are all of the subchannels using it?

I don't have any ATSC 3 equipment but I do have 2 of the now discontinued HDHomerun Connect units. (I liked the first one so much I bought a second.) IMO the hardware is great but their software sucks. Fortunately it uses standard streaming protocols so you can use any of a number of 3rd party programs with it like Kodi, Plex, NextPVR, VLC, etc. Depending on how crowded your WiFi is you might have a problem streaming HD. I use 5 GHz WiFi and it works perfectly. There's more information on that at their site. Right now there is only one physical channel running ATSC 3 and that's RF 19 which is KJZZ's channel. ATSC 3 is mutually exclusive with the older ATSC 1 that all the other channels are using. We talked about it when it happened and the details are here: talkingutahradio.proboards.com/thread/1945/rescan-needed-kjzz-tv Little has changed since then and there haven't been any filings by the other stations. A good source for what's going on technically at TV stations is Rabbit Ears. Specifically www.rabbitears.info/market.php Scroll down to market 28 for Salt Lake. I don't know how old that data is, but it shows only the .1's.

Thanks. I recalled there having been a previous discussion, but I couldn't find the thread.
AFAIK, the HomeRun Connect 4K is the only on-the-market device for streaming OTA tv that has tuners both for 1.0 and 3.0.

Sure thing.
I'm not aware of any other v3 tuners, but I haven't been looking. I'd like to upgrade but at this point I can't justify the $200 price tag. I'm sure I'll upgrade when either one of my current units dies or v1 is turned off.
