We are looking for an AM Engineer to fix and service our Transmitters.
Nautel J1000 and 10K Continental '65.
If interested please call David @ (435) 225 4246.

Does anyone know if it would be cheaper in the long run to replace the Continental transmitter with a 5 or 10 kW solid state xmitter? The tubes for the Continental can't be cheap, and it's probably pretty difficult to get parts for a 56 year old transmitter.

We are hoping to replace the Continental with a NX10, but we need to fire up what we currently have.

Do you have 3-phase power at the site?

I'd be interested to know if the tower lights are still off. If they are, the NOTAM that kenglish submitted last year probably needs to be renewed. ✈

What happened with the Continental Transmitter expert that I recommended? Also, which transmitter was on the air last? Which one is far, far off frequency?
If there is no three-phase power at the site, it may be worth looking at the cost of converting the distribution lines and the in-house power distribution to 3-phase, vs the cost of maybe having a custom transmitter system built by Nautel. They might be able to create a dual single-phase transmitter and combiner using two of their single-phase transmitters. They don't build a single 10 KW rig for single phase power, those big ones are 3-phase only. Isn't the nearest 3-phase power down the road a ways?
