103.1 The Wave just posted on their facebook page that one of their DJ's, Cuzzin' Brad, unexpectedly passed away yesterday (June 30th).
I've been a big fan of CB's work for quite some time. Every Sunday night I tuned into his Unrest on the Seventh Day show featuring punk, industrial and gothic music.
Rest in peace.

The two threads on this topic have been combined.
That's a shame. I'm sure it's more upsetting to his fans since it was unexpected.

The memorial for Cuzzin Brad has also been posted on The Wave's website. I also noticed that Barb Thomas is back on 103.1 from 7 PM-Midnight every weeknight except Wednesday.
Rest in Peace, CB. You provided me with a lot of laughs and humor over the years, especially your "celebrity weather forecasts" on Unforgettable 1430 KLO.

Todd Nukem did a very nice shoutout to him today during his show on X96. He covered when they worked together at KJQ and X96 and highlighted other parts of his career. He praised his talent at the mike, his genius at coming up with the funny and unexpected, and his impressions, particularly his impression of Fred Schneider, which he followed by dedicating "My Own Private Idaho" to him. It is one of the great things about this market, that even with people working for competing companies, there is a bigger broadcasting family vibe that seems to keep personalities here even when they move to different stations.

Chet Tapp ended his show on Friday morning with some words about his friend of 30 years. He also stated that they were planning an event in memorial for CB. I believe we will get the details on this next week.

I wish I could have heard that. Thank you for posting this. I also agree that there is a sense of family from some of the longtime DJs in the area.

I think the sense of family is especially true of the DJ's who have worked at or are currently working at KXRK (X96) and 103.1 The Wave. Most of those jocks have worked together at one time or another at KCGL, the original KJQ in Ogden, or at 107.5/101.9 "The End".

Per a post on the station's Facebook page, there will be a musical tribute to Cuzzin Brad this Thursday evening from 6-8 PM on 103.1 The Wave. No word yet on whether or not they plan to continue the Newer New Wave and Unrest On The Seventh Day shows.

I hope they find a way to continue those shows. The Newer New Wave has had different DJs. But I think that Unrest on the Seventh Day was CB's pet project. Last Sunday I listened to a bunch of musicians that CB would have played.

If you missed the tribute to Cuzzin Brad on Thursday night, 103.1 The Wave is planning to re-play it on Sunday night 7-9pm (the normal time slot for Unrest on the Seventh Day).

I noticed that The Wave is airing a new show called "Resurrection Radio" this Sunday evening. Based on what I've heard so far, it seems very similar in format and scope to Unrest On the Seventh Day. Resurrection Radio has two hosts, one of which goes by "Dirty Pete". His voice sounds exactly like the guy who voices some of the commercials on The Wave, so I suspect it's Pete Steiner from KBZN. So far there's no mention of the new show on either The Wave's Facebook or internet pages, so I'm guessing tonight's show might be a "trial balloon" to gage listener reaction to a replacement for Unrest.

I've heard the first two shows. I stumbled upon the first episode almost by accident. It's not bad so far. I'm hoping it will grow on me. They could use a little bit more industrial and techno. But I'm still willing to give it a shot. I haven't heard any on air promotion yet. I was thinking about dropping the station an email letting them know that it's getting noticed.
