I wouldn't make any assumptions about anything to do with KDYL these days. It doesn't seem like Mr Su cares that much. As far as the money, the bills probably go to some central accounting office who doesn't know or care about the station or whether the bill should exist. They just pay what comes in. The days when 1060 was owned by one guy who made all the decisions from what music to play to what brand of coffee is in the break room are gone.

Noticed they are still on tonight (Friday). KNX-1070 is making it through OK, but with some growling. Maybe KDYL is on low power? Steve Carlson posted in another Utah radio discussion group recently, and he said KDYL's Continental 10 KW transmitter hasn't produced full power for some time and needs to be replaced. The station's signal is certainly a far cry from what it was during the days of the "Real Oldies" format, when KDYL was broadcasting with Kahn's CAM-D system. :-(

I'm still wondering how a station can legally broadcast with no modulation, and still fulfill the obligation to give a legal ID every hour. Of course, I've never heard a legal (or, illegal) ID on 95.7. Not sure what their COL would be, either, since they cover the entire valley.😉

KEGH-FM 107.1 was on the air with a dead carrier for several months in 2017 after the deal with AASAA Media fell through, and as far as I know the FCC didn't take any action against the station.

Sounds like you could just leave a ten-second gap at the top of each hour, and program normally the rest of the time. Technically, you would be "silent" during that period.
I wonder what the point is for a Legal ID. You could file a complaint with the FCC, but they would want to know the station's call sign. If they don't identify themselves, how can you file?

I noticed yesterday that KDYL is off the air again. Funny how many stations are covered up by their non-programming. I heard at least four stations on 1060 during a quick trip to the store. I wonder if they are off intentionally, or is the power off again?

KDYL's off frequency rumbling makes it very difficult for me to hear anything but CKMX on 1060 after dark in Ogden, so I can only imagine how much interference it causes in the Salt Lake area.
For KDYL to be off the air for days or even weeks at a time is nothing new--it's been going on ever since Ralph Carlson sold the station to James Su in 2015. I suspect it's due to the fact that the owner doesn't live in the area, and the transmitter being in serious need of repair. I don't think it's been capable of generating 10 KW since shortly after Ralph sold the station.

I'm curious about where their Control Point was/is, and how they monitor their transmitter and tower lights. I wonder even more since their is no studio now.

1060 is for sale as is... where is. seeing listings in broker news letters. I know that KDYL has been listed on the RadioTV Deals site for at least six months now, and the owner is also trying to sell daytimer WILD 1090 in Boston. Mr. Su also sold his station in Oregon a few months ago, so it appears he's getting out of the broadcasting business, at least in the U.S. KDYL has been off the air since April 23rd, and whoever's responsible for filing an STA to remain silent has yet to submit one to the FCC. I suppose as long as no one complains and the FCC is unaware of how long KDYL has been silent, the license won't be cancelled.
