Bravo has announced that the Real Housewives franchise is expanding to Salt Lake. www.bravotv.com/bravocon/real-housewives-of-salt-lake-city-announced-bravocon-2019Some of you probably remember when Bravo was a pay network that aired cultural programming. Those days are LONG gone and now they're going after the lowest common denominator. I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be a bad idea for the region, but Bravo/NBCUniversal will probably love stirring up trouble. That brings ratings. On a related note, I noticed that at least right now the only major local news outlet website that doesn't have the story is KSL. It's doubly odd because KSL is affiliated with NBC. I wonder if that's an editorial decision in favor of good taste or it just hasn't been published yet. The SL Tribune's Scott Pierce has a great article on it: www.sltrib.com/artsliving/2019/11/16/scott-d-pierce-call-out/ Don't hold back Scott, tell us what you really think. I know trash TV is a guilty pleasure for some, but to me it just feels like the dumbing down of America. Your opinions welcome, especially if you disagree with me. I'd love to hear some counterarguments.

I have avoided all previous series (as well as most "reality" TV series). I Have no plans to watch this one even with the local connection.

I also have no plans to watch it. I have never watched any of the other Real Housewives series.
I worry that the "real" people they build around will be nothing but stereotypes. There will be one woman who is a bigot. One woman who is a prig. One who is holier-then-thou. One who is spoiled rich. And maybe with a polygamist woman mixed in for "local flavor."
