Less than 10 years after the phase out of analog TV in favor of digital, the FCC has given TV broadcasters the go ahead to voluntarily adopt new ATSC 3.0 standards for next generation TV broadcasts. This raises the question: if the FCC has decided to make ATSC 3.0 standards voluntary, is this going to be another "let the marketplace decide" disaster like the FCC's refusal to declare a standard for AM stereo in the 1980's? As with the FCC statement on AM translators, you'll need Word or Adobe to open the file: www.fcc.gov/document/fcc-moves-facilitate-next-generation-tv/pai-statement
