That's a really good point about the ratings period ending just over 2 weeks before Christmas. If people burn out on Christmas music and tune out in those last 2 weeks, who cares?
There are other alternatives besides B98.7 or The Breeze of course too. The obvious would be stations with similar demos that aren't all holiday. The scarier prospects from Bonneville and Clear Channel's points of view would be moving to talk stations or away from broadcast radio altogether. MP3 players have only the songs you like anytime anywhere. Satellite radio is still trying to make a go of it too. What if those listeners never come back? That's becoming more and more of a real problem.

MP3 players, satellite and KBEE or KBZN could be problematic to Bonneville or Clear Channel. But one scenario you suggest could in fact bennefit them, and that is driving listeners from Christmas Music stations to the News/Talk format. In that case that would most likely send them to either KSL AM/FM or KNRS, which could, in fact, be a boost to what are arguably the strongest stations of thier respective clusters.

Good point. That's assuming that the migration would be equal though. If more people go to one than the other, the loser wouldn't like it much.
