Flipped to 99.1 in Utah Co. this afternoon, and heard a 97.1 ZHT simulcast.
The 97.1 signal comes in decently across northern Utah Co. Think they'd pull better numbers with it than they did with country?

Folks were discussing on the Utah Radio Group on Facebook that it was a smart move to overcome the shadowing in Eagle Mt and Saratoga.

For those who are in those particular areas that makes sense, but follow the money. K256AE can be heard across pretty much all of Salt Lake and Utah Counties. Duplicating what 95% of your potential audience can already get clearly makes no sense.
I don't see this as being permanent for 2 reasons. One is what I said above. Two, K256AE's shelf life is limited. KUDE is going to move into 99.1 which will force K256AE off the air. An interesting possibility might be that KUDE is going to be sold to iHeart and this is part of that transition, but that seems a little far-fetched. I don't see this simulcast as being anything other than a placeholder, possibly something coming from a KZHT subchannel. We'll have to see.
