Thank you for all your hard work, Danny. We know it isn't easy, but it will payoff. :-)

Something to consider on KPDR.... It is possible to program an audio-only channel, which newer digital TV's will read as audio-only and put a "screen-saver' or a black-screen up for the picture. You could make 19-5 become a TV channel with both video and audio when required, then make it an "audio/radio" channel the rest of the time, using the station's PSIP system. That way, you would not have a visual distraction during the "radio" times.

Interesting idea Ken, although some tuners will put video there anyway. With 9.91 on KUEN one box I have adds the video from 9.1 for some reason.
Another idea that would be less configuration and more content driven would be to use the video for a community bulletin board. People submit non-profit announcements and you put up static pages with the information. I've worked at a station like that and it's very popular.

I think KUEN does a couple of things with their PSIP on 9-91....my older LG box sees the re-mapping of 9-1 vided to 9-91, but many sets here at work see it defined as audio-only, and go black-screen or screen-saver. KPDR would do well to make a Community Calendar, doing a crawl during live-camera programming, and revert it to a full-screen "roll" when the DJ's are not live on-camera.

The ability to play the stream through a media player was an excellent addition. Thank you so much for that!

I actually wrote this once and somehow deleted it so if you may be getting this info twice, apologies. this project is turning out to be even cooler and more fun than I had imagined. I have a group of young entrepreneurs (nearly 40) who will be working with me through Kim Power Stilson (sirius/XM and Byu radio) to spread the word through social media and other means. I in turn will be working with them aiming at start-ups and marketing etc. Gonna be a super project for all concerned. I have been approached by some who wanted to know if I would consider the programming on AM OR FM, and I am at the point now that I would love to address this with anyone who has a dormant stick or perhaps a station that is either going nowhere or regressing. I have the ability to provide the programming with ways for stations to add their spots and can have no out of pocket for the 24/7 music targeted at 40+ demos which we have found are upscale, affluent, and so very very loyal. So if you have access to the ear of any station owners anywhere who want to do a little talking about potential, would love to open that discussion, and should they want to do some business and revenue share, I can give them and you the story and can make you and them happy...radio and TV used to fun and I am finding it can be again (at least my venture is)...you can email me at danny@rmastars.com or friend me on twitter @rmallstars or search Danny Kramer Utah for facebook (gonna streamline all this shortly) Look forward to hearing if someone or more than one wants to have fun again. Danny (have a great weekend)

Too bad you couldn't be on one of the HD Radio subchannels.

"HD" is such a tiny percentage is radio listening it's almost like not being there at all. At this point it's not worth it.

I know that, but at least it would get the station out on the air at what I think would be a much lower cost than a regular station.

I wonder if KNFL (1470) and KOGN (1490) are completely gone? KNFL had a fairly good signal in to SLC, but was supposed to be torn down, and the land reverted back to the landlord. Not sure if KOGN is still intact.

KOGN was sold. KNFL was deleted as far as I can tell.

The RetroMediaAllstars app for Android is now available at the Google Play Store. The iPhone app should be coming soon.

KOGN was sold. KNFL was deleted as far as I can tell. KOGN is off the air as of this writing and has been off since at least last night around 8:00 PM. Not sure if the station is off due to the thunderstorms over the weekend or if they are having other transmitter issues. I checked the FCC web site, and the only recent actions for KOGN are transfer of ownership to Familia Broadcasting LLC and an application for license renewal. If the station stays off the air for the rest of this week, I might even have a chance at hearing 1500 KSTP in Saint Paul. Woo Hoo!
