I drove through Salt Lake City twice within the past two weeks on my way to and from Northern California. While there, I scanned the dial. It seems nothing has changed since 2010. Nearly all the stations aside for those who flipped sound the same.
Other things I noted: KXOL was playing a religious ceremony in English on Sunday. They must have gone back to regular Spanish programming later. KBER 101.1 has a very weak choppy signal by 1300 South (which is line of sight with Farnsworth). It was the only station on Farnsworth that was that weak.
I didn't have any problem hearing most of the SLC FM stations from Wendover, UT, which is normal. No KBER though (as mentioned above).
Rock 99.1 is playing different music than 106.5... why? The new 106.5 was still leading people to todays1065.com on one commercial. All of the rimshotters were weak out by the airport, especially KJQN, which sounds like it needs the volume turned up a notch.
Noted weak signals from KDYL and Radio Disney... not sure why. They should have been booming on I-80. It could have been my parent's 2009 RAV 4 radio, but I suspect otherwise.
Also of note: KSL 1160 was like a local in Northern California around sunrise!!
[End observations]

This is just a guess, but Rock 99.1 always seemed like kind of a throwaway format. When KUDE was supposed to move to 99.1 a few years back, Clear Channel just turned the translator off. It stayed off for a really long time. Then it came back and was probably being run off the national web stuff just to have something there. I'm guessing that Rock 106.5 is being programmed locally (not withstanding the imported Jim Kerr from Q104 in NY.)
P.S. 103.1 is KLO-FM now.
