I don't think we noted it here, but KNFL (1470 Tremonton) has been deleted. It's dead and gone. The callsign has been picked up by a new station up in Montana.

Not really any use to have that station on the air. With such a poor signal, I couldn't see it as a profitable investment. Sad.

Well, the tower is easy to explain. Even if the station is off the air, FCC and FAA regulations say it has to be maintained. The paint has to be kept up and it still has to be lit.
I have to disagree with you DX. The signal actually got out reasonably well for 1kw. I could hear them down in southern Davis County. They probably wouldn't want to target that far south, but that shows the signal got out. The way I think they could have been successful was to be a local voice for the Logan/Brigham City area. Of course there's KVNU, but a good chunk of their schedule is national syndicated programming. I think there's a solid niche for a live-and-local talk station there.

Their signal was not too bad in Salt Lake County, on a good radio. How come the towers are still there? I thought the idea was to clear out everything, and stop paying rent. Does the landlord have a plan?

Also noticed, FYI, that KOBY Cedar City, which was also part of this bancruptcy group, has also been deleted.

Legacy was forced into bankruptcy as moundofsound mentioned, so I'm not sure who actually owns the land at this point. There are other stations and applications in the area, though nothing is filed for that site. Something could happen in the future though.

Ahhh . . . let me guess: the station in Montana that picked up the KNFL call is . . . a sports station? If I remember correctly, it wouldn't be the first time the call letters were used by an all sports format station. Sometime in the early 90's, I think someone made the station's owner an offer he couldn't refuse and purchased the rights to the KNFL call for an ESPN affiliate. I wish I had some air checks from KNFL when it was still on the air a couple of years ago playing nothing but Christmas music. I'd like to hear Bob Dylan croak his way through "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" again just for the belly laughs without having to spend $10.99 to buy the CD from Amazon. ;D

At the moment it doesn't appear to be on the air, so anything is possible. They only have their first construction permit, and it's in the Missoula market.

KENT is indeed licensed but silent. The explanation is interesting though: "ON FEBRUARY 16, 2012, STATION KENT(AM) WENT SILENT DUE TO LOSS OF POWER AT ITS SITE." That application was filed June 11. It's interesting that nearly 4 months later the power is still out. It may still be for all I know. I wonder if the financial problems caused the power to get cut off because they didn't pay the bill. Regardless they'd better have something set up within 2 months or the license does go bye bye.

How come nobody's alerting us of these via that BREAKING NEWS section of the boards?

Breaking News is for something major. A station that's been silent for over a year and was only running a placeholder format for years doesn't qualify, for example.
