Ken, is 1160's IBOC off for good, or am I just not receiving the flashing signal from northeastern Wyoming? KSL was one of only three stations I could consistently get to lock during the night here, the other two being KFAB and KOA. WCCO from Minnesota gets really close but never quite locks.

It always gets turned off during BYU games due to the inherent delay in the system. If you tuned in Saturday, that would be the case. After the game, they went to the new transmitter, which is not quite ready to do IBOC yet. IBOC is still on, using the older transmitter. When the proof is finished on the new one, IBOC will be back to nearly full-time.

Is the new TX a result of what happened a while back?

If you mean, the copper thefts,...No, they just figured it's time to dump the oldest transmitter, and have a coupler of newer, more efficient (and easier-to-cool) transmitters. I think they've been planning on budgeting for a new one for a few years.

Yes, CA, that is what I meant, but thanks for the info anyway. It seems like IBOC on AM is dropping across the country. KSL like I said was one that consistently locked at night here. I got it to lock better here than I did in Green River, which is a lot closer to SLC, go figure.

*checking map* Could have been skywave/groundwave cancellation in Green River. And I think my position on IBOC is already pretty well known.

FYI, I'm in Sheridan, WY not Green River. KSL's IBOC is back.
