I think it was Lonestar 92.5 in DFW, tx where they experimented with that sort of concept. They would sell their advertising much like NPR with companies like Southwest Airlines sponsoring this hour of great country/rock (or whatever that format was). Check this thread from Radio-Info: boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,69471.10.html I didn't follow too closely, but I think they've since flipped the format again since...

CA, I was more talking about on-air spots starting. I know, who would want spots?? With a company in some financial difficulty not sure how long they could run a station with no income. And ultimately, I hope they don't start song-tagging and actually get some staff on-air.

Any word on streaming or DJ's and advertising starting on KYLZ? Went through their site at utahs1047.com and saw just some basic info and a place to enter a music story. I was tempted to tell all about this groovy chick I met at a George Strait concert in Tacoma, WA. But I resisted....

dx, the only suggestion I would offer is to have you provide some basic location info in the caption. For example, KSOP-AM is right off of the 201 and Redwood Rd in West Valley City, or something. To help viewers who might drive past some sites in their regular commute know to whom those towers belong to.

On your Lake Mt page, you list 104.7 as off-air. I think it is now on-air as Cool. Classic. Rock KYLZ. A new Millcreek FM. This ThreadAt least I know that's the frequency, whether they are using that tower at this point, I'm not sure.

Sorry, Lou Reed's Walk on The Wild Side, "she said hey babe, take a walk on the wild side..." The second verse: LyricWiki

Forgive me about my ignorance... but I heard them play The Wild Side today and I don't know if they ever edit this to where you don't hear him say about the hooker giving someone "pleasure", but they didn't. Is there an edited version that typical stations use that doesn't have that particular lyric? Just curious...

Started seeing a few Billboards heading from AF to Daybreak. One in Lehi, one in Draper for sure... Thought I saw one on Bangerter but not sure there are billboards there at all...
Very basic, white background, interesting font in black with a reflection directly underneath.
104.7 FM Cool. Classic Rock.

Reports from over-there are saying the music mix is still being tweaked at 97.9 towards more hot music, including Hoobastank, Coldplay, OneRepublic, etc... Along with other AC fare...
Seriously?
What is missing from this saturated market? Oh yeah, Smooth Jazz... What about classic alternative, what about Non-Rhythmic CHR? Dance? FM Sports? Competing FM News/Talk or all-news?
Thoughts??

Speaking of stretching 4:3 content to 16:9, why does BYU do this to their additional feeds? It looks crummy and not as professional. If their content is 4:3, show it in 4:3!! Easy. I was watching KSL 5.1's Feed of General Conf this weekend. Very crisp and clear. Good audio. First time in HD.. I only have an SD TV but it's a 42" edTV Plasma Monitor so no tuner. I noticed some faint bars or lines going upward throughout the broadcast. Not sure if it was my Magnavox $40 box or the actual transmission. I had 70+ signal strength.

The processing is solid. The AGC isn't too overpowering. I heard a song that had a spoken intermission and had to actually turn up the radio to hear it. But all the music/liners sound very open, yet consistent. Wonder if they're Omnia or Orban? Anyone know?

At around 2:20 I heard (I think) Bonnie Raitt's Love Sneakin' Up and again at about 4:20. Thought that was an interesting rotation...

I keep forgetting to check this in the car... Any utah county reports? With 600 watts licensed to Provo, is this going to be similar to the simmons' boosters from lake mountain or provo canyon--wherever?

I was very impressed too, Pete! I purchased as well and (don't tell anyone) I'm using the $30 one to process my stream!! Sounds so good!
