David, I know that PPM is supposed to make Arbitron even MORE expensive. Unless KDYL somehow rocketed into the top 5-10 in a major demo (18-34, 25-54), which is unlikely, there wouldn't be much reason for them to pay to continue subscribing. That's how a station gets on most national/regional ad buys.
I know that direct clients generally just need to see results. If a client is getting good frequency and response from KDYL, I think testimonials and other examples of success would generate just as much interest for continued and additional direct business.
I wish anyone with more info. (local agency or sales management) would post some figures here from time to time. I think Miller Kaplan does a report for this market - it would be interesting to see which stations are up and down from a year ago and what kind of revenue any of them generate.

I for one don't care about the audio quality of AM when I listen to it. AM to me is a gem that should never go away. I'm fascinated by the band and although I too don't understand why there are so many hispanic stations on the band, as long as they identify themselves, I'm fine. That's a problem I have with stations from Mexico. They don't ID enough, if at all. Makes for a hard DX. Almost as bad as the Mexican stations operated by U.S. broadcasters (in English) to serve the communities of Los Angeles and San Diego. ;D Thanks to CA for the insightful answer. It had slipped my mind that Inca bought KXOL entirely, thanks to Simmons Media's terrible Web site. There are so many variables to keep track of in that market!

Inca Communications apparently also runs a frequency at 92.9 from what I can gather at their (terrible) Web site. Is this the translator licensed to the Feulners in Utah County?
I was going to ask why they'd keep KOVO, but then I realized that KXOL's contour is too small to legally re-broadcast there.
Can any Utah County friends shed light on this station? Who is this company on north Redwood Road? Why does Simmons LMA to them? How does Utah keep so many Spanish broadcasters in business?
In my opinion, I would go with Bustos since a) they're on FM big time b) they seem to be the most professional c) at this point they have a TV operation to co-sell, too.
If not them, probably KSVN because it is heritage heritage heritage.

KYLZ It's just another example of the FCC being a toothless clawless paper tiger. What good is a regulatory agency when everyone just goes ahead and does whatever they want regardless? You mean like KMCQ- "Covington" moving from The Dalles, Oregon to "Covington" aka Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia, Wash. and signing on with an antenna on wheels and running a terrible automated CD/computer format to maintain 'license to cover' before it will likely go off air for 'financial difficulties'? *sigh* Or KEZQ-FM Island Park/KWYS-FM West Yellowstone being re-purposed to serve the public of Idaho Falls, Rexburg, etc. but then going off the air for "transmitter damage" and only returning briefly every 2? years to keep the license active?!? How is that providing people with a source of local information where TV and even cell phone coverage is almost non-existent? Bleh.

Too bad the local cable company doesn't own the cluster. They'd probably put the audio on their digital tier AND provide some (what sounds like is missing) decent local content.

Well, today were the Canadian elections. The Conservative Party is keeping their minority government and turn out may be at a record low for the country.
Any thoughts?
Harper has agreed to pull their troops from Afghanistan in 2011.

November 3 is the most likely date to get 5 full weeks out of the winter book before it's done. The book is actually done on December 10 so anyone that flips full time after that will not get the "Christmas kiss" - I suppose that is partly why KOSY and FM100 started going so much sooner.
Thanksgiving is also *late* this year, falling on November 27.
Oct. 31st is a Friday this year so I could almost see KOSY doing that again like they did (3?) years ago.

I like the new "Mix" voice and image.
That station's sure been through a lot over the years. PPM will be its friend, I think.

Why is 107.9/103.9 and also 97.5 not being followed by Yes.com? I thought they had a problem with them as an operator, but KUUU is still being monitored.
The MediaBase playlist thing on KUDD's site seems to be behind by several minutes.
Hopefully Big Rog or someone will find an answer or nudge the yes.com folks into getting them monitored again.

So the new owners of KUTR turned the buzz box off? Interesting. Since it was already installed, I thought they'd leave it on. I'm also surprised that KUER is splitting the digital bandwidth between three music services. did you happen to notice if the HD3 is on air when the analog/HD1 is running jazz? Maybe they lower the bitrate on HD1 during the daytime talk programming. I know that KUER's music channels sound quite good to my untrained ear on my friend's car stereo. I have no idea if they are above "FM" quality but it's nice they're trying to offer more choices. When it comes to KUTR, I suppose it depends on if the equipment was at the transmitter or in the racks at Bonneville. I'm thinking it was the latter and there's probably a *yawn* satellite link up feeding right into KUTR's 6 tower array. Why? Who knows.

If they can manage to get U of Wyoming's translator in Evanston (which, I'm guessing from the main they might) they could detect a Wyo. EAS. Or, if someone were to fund KNYN's tower being re-built (hint, HINT), they could monitor KNYN without issue.

DX Stu Boy, you can check www.rrconline.org for 12+ Non Commercial station data (thanks for providing that link years ago, CAWasInNJ!). However, Arbitron recently forced them to do the same thing that the commercial reporting sites do - eliminate all non-subscribers. :-( This makes Utah's picture a lot less helpful. There's also some history here in a thread I posted a while back - the religious stations generally don't show, even 12+, if I remember.

I don't know if Grim Basement comes over to this board, but Big Eddy isn't heard in Salt Lake City yet and that's a shame. The closest affiliate is probably in Boise, but they tape delay the program by several hours to the afternoon slot and sometimes automation seems to cut it off the stream... www.kfxd.com/ to listen there. In Tucson, AZ, the "Jolt" streams his show live. Or, AM 760 in Denver is also live, but you have to support a Clear Channel station to listen there. He's live on XM if you have that or tape delayed by 3 hours to his old time slot on Sirius.

KSVN was one of the first Spanish stations in the country. I'm assuming that somehow they are able to keep a steady stream of ad. dollars and have the heritage of an established audience. If Arbitron keeps up leaving their top recruiters on the PPM gig, I doubt we'll see a very good Spanish-language sample here in a long time.
Bustos really has done some good work with bringing in FM music stations though. Is it still "Magia" on 106.1? They've been kicking that for "Ke Buena" in a lot of other markets. I think they officially canned "Recuerdas/La Romantica" as well (former AM 1600 incarnations).
Obviously AM 820 has flipped so they can't be the "next" but at some point 10-10 AM will be Catholic-based broadcasting and not BBC World Service.
