According to Scott Fybush (http://www.fybush.com) Lonsberry's home base WHAM in Rochester NY has moved his timeslot for his local show. As a result he won't be able to keep doing the show for KLO that he was doing.

Maybe KKAT 860 could find a place for him?

KKAT would be hard but not impossible. They've got Mark Levin 4-8 right now. That show's owned by Cumulus, as is KKAT. That's a bit problematic. They could cut the last hour of Jerry Doyle's show (that's owned by TRN) but is an hour going to make that much of a difference? There's also a question of whether Clear Channel (Lonsberry's primary employer) would allow him to work for direct competitor Cumulus. A minor independent like KLO is one thing, but this is a different thing altogether.
There are alternatives though. A better idea might be approaching KTKK 630. Yep, K-Talk is still around. There's not a lot on there that anyone's ever heard of though. Getting a marquee name might get them on the map and there's not a lot to lose. Clear Channel would probably be ok with it too.

Yeah, I forgot about KTKK. The signal isn't the greatest, but it would cover Salt Lake better at night then KLO does.

Doesn't seem to cover Midvale.

Unless there was a technical problem, you should definitely be able to hear KTKK from Midvale. As best as I can figure from the FCC filings, KTKK has been running under an STA from the KLLB site in South Jordan. That's only about 5 miles give or take. Were you listening to 630?

With a 55 foot longwire, I could get them "listenable". Even with an indoor, powered, shielded-loop antenna, they are UN-listenable at night. Plasma noise, cable TV leakage, and general spurs and beats make certain channels unusable for indoor use in an MDU. And, the FCC rules specifically exclude antennas for REAL radio...although they specifically allow for SatRad (Pay) radio.

Usual Listening Area: east Murray

MDU? Multiple Dwelling Unit?
I live on the east side of Murray, used to be called Cottonwood. I can't get KTKK at all, day or night. There's lots of AM noise here. KLO is bad at night, pretty good in the daytime.
I was listening to KLO this morning during the 6am hour. Walter Platz was doing the show and doing a pretty good job, a little repetitive, but informative. He has a news woman doing news every 15 minutes.
Personally, I wish they'd just put Laura Ingraham back on live at 7.

There must be a technical reason, but I can't think of it right now. Midvale and Cottonwood are on pretty much the same radial from the KLLB site, so it does make sense. I used to live in an MDU near Ogden and KTKK wasn't too bad even on a cheap clock radio as I recall. Currently in Davis County I can get them ok even on cheap radios, at least during the daytime.

The "Technical Reason" is, that FCC Part 15 is no longer enforced. "If it operates, it interferes" is how the manufacturers view their new inventions.

Although I lament the loss (again) of Lonsberry in our market, it's nice to see him go because of a promotion of sorts, rather than being fired (again).
I get WHAM on my iPhone, but I'd rather listen on podcast. Frankly, I'd rather listen to anything on podcast. I can no longer take commercials. Lonsberry was the only reason I tuned into KNRS, and I haven't since he left. He was the only reason I tuned into KLO, and haven't tuned in since he left there. Anybody worth listening to on both stations (aside from Platz- I dig him) I can get on podcast.

Tongue-in-Cheek here, but...... Isn't saying you like to listen to a program, but can't stand the commercials, sort of like saying you love to live in a wonderful town, but you don't want to help pay the taxes?
I remember seeing a big SUV in Park City. It had lots of stickers all over it, touting how much they loved skiing PC, loved living in PC, and Colorado license plates that said "ILUVPC".

Except that I do pay the taxes. When I listened to Lonsberry on KNRS, I sat thru the commercials. Same on KLO. Same with any other program I depend solely on radio for. And I pay to listen to Beck, Dennis Miller, etc. on demand. No freeloading here.
