I realize they have the "IheartRadio" application and have marketed it heavily across their stations.
I heard one of our local CC stations with a big top-of-the hour ID image saying "An i heart radio station!" in the way that FM100 declares "Proud to Be a Bonneville station."
Interesting indeed. Not sure if this is true in Utah.

A quick check shows the same thing at WCTQ Sarasota. I was monitoring My 99.5 just now at midnight and they sold the naming rights to the legal. (Hey if we can name stadiums after sponsors, why not a legal ID? *cough* *cough*)

I believe it's a nation wide thing - I think I heard it on the legal ID for Z100 in NYC a few weeks back while I was streaming them at work. I don't think it's anything more than another branding opportunity for them, reminding people they can tune in the station on their smart phone.

It's actually an improvement. A station speaks to its clients (ad buyers) to say the name of the company.
To reach the listener, you want to say how to listen to the station. The frequency and iHeartRadio are genuinely useful to the average user.

Oh YEAH! I have heard that "I Heart Radio" thing before. But FM100 (...point three) doesn't say "Proud to be a Bonneville station" anymore. It's been "Proud to be a DMC station" for a good little while now.
Happy Christmas!
