Bob just posted this on his Facebook page: Utah update: Currently looks like I will start doing a Salt Lake radio show about the first of February, from 5 to 7 weekday mornings.
Pretty vague.. what are we thinking? Where?

I'd bet it's KNRS. The current 6am show is a repeat of Glenn Beck's previous day 3rd hour.

It's kinda weird. There's been a lot of back and forth between Bob and KNRS, yet he's still working for Clear Channel at his homebase of WHAM in Rochester.
One has to hope that the radio he's referring to isn't a podcast or internet stream or some nonsense like that. Those are non-starters from the beginning at this point.

I predict KLO

KLO is a very interesting thought I hadn't considered. They're doing poorly and getting a name like Lonsberry, who has a loyal following, would certainly give them exposure. He can be polarizing but there's not much downside and the potential for a big upside. KLO really can't go much further down in terms of ratings.

It's just my opinion, but KLO's problem is not their programming; it's their signal. I think that their transmitter is in Layton and their signal in the morning is their night-time signal which is extremely weak in the south half of Salt Lake County. I could be wrong, but I, for one, have always had a hard time listening to them through the static and the out-of-town stations in the background on 1430. I wish that they were on FM.

I've got an idea which FM they could use to put KLO on... but that would result in a big breeze.

Only NOW there's no breeze.
Now is actually doing fairly well. You think they'd dump it for a simulcast of an also ran?

UPDATE: From his FB Page: It's official: At 5 a.m. Monday, the Bob Lonsberry program premieres on World Class Talk Radio 1430 KLO in Salt Lake City. We go until 7 a.m. weekdays and hope you will tune in and tell all your friends. It has been a heart-breaking seven months away, but I'm back, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I wonder what that means for Bill Bennett. Shortened live clearance? Tape delayed? KLO's website isn't updated yet.

Looks like KLO's Website has been updated now. They've cut back Bill Bennet to just one hour, 4-5am. Lonsberry's column is pretty interesting today: www.boblonsberry.com/writings.cfm?go=4He doesn't mince words: "It has been disheartening in recent months to see public discussion in Utah muzzled by an odd convergence of interests all intent on silencing the state’s conservative heart. From the talk studio of KSL to the offices of the Sutherland Institute to the editorial pages of both major newspapers, the intellectual imprisonment of political correctness has been forced on this state." I don't care too much for his religious rants, but his politics are right up my alley.

I don't care too much for his religious rants, but his politics are right up my alley. It seems to me like the two are inexorably combined to him and that concerns me. That being said, the best thing regardless of your viewpoint is to allow a free expression of ideas.

Lonsberry wasn't on this morning. The local news guy, Walter Platz (sp?) said "Due to a contract disagreement with his former employer, Bob Lonsberry won't be on until Wednesday."

Lonsberry wasn't on this morning. The local news guy, Walter Platz (sp?) said "Due to a contract disagreement with his former employer, Bob Lonsberry won't be on until Wednesday." That's really strange. Bob was formerly with KNRS of course, and that's owned by Clear Channel. Even after he was fired from there, he's continued to work for Clear Channel stablemate WHAM in Rochester NY and he's still listed there. I'm wondering if that means he's leaving WHAM. Am I the only one who gets a headache trying to figure out the politics here?
