This evening, from my listening post in SW Wyo, I am hearing 1660 playing a loop of what sounds like a bad programming glitch. It sounds like one word repeating over and over endlessly, as if the satellite feed went down. Did SLC have any bad weather today? Here is what KXOL (1660) sounds like from 152 miles away at 7:20 PM Local time. www.ubstudios.com/dx/kxolscrewup.mp3

Nothing wrong there now. Mostly likely that was KXOL, but are you sure? There has been some gusty wind and cooler temps over the past couple of days, but nothing spectacular.
Why is it that digital receivers rerun the same thing they have in their buffer instead of just shutting up when they lose signal? I've never understood that.

Definitely KXOL. They come in pretty clear here usually, but yesterday there was a lot of interference and storms in the area.
At night, KXOL is almost like a local here. My brother said he has received it in northern Idaho.
I think it is something similar to most digital TV converter boxes. Mine freezes up on the last frame caught until a new one is received. I think it may have something to do with error correction (the buffer).

I heard this on Sunday night as well, and I can definitely confirm that it was on KXOL. By the way, this isn't the first time this type of screw-up has happened on KXOL. My guess is that Inca has this station on 24/7 automation with no one monitoring, and the only time they know there's a problem is if someone calls to complain.
