Anybody DVR any programming from Comcast during the recent AMBER Alerts? I'd like to see an "aircheck" of what Comcast does on the various channels during an EAS, especially during an AMBER alert.
Also, what stations (radio or TV) relay these alerts on the 15-minute schedule that KSL Radio does? Or, do most just run it a few times at the beginning of the emergency?

From what I noticed, all of the cable-only channels carried the Amber Alert every 15 minutes. I also noticed, for the first time, that you can't change cable channels during the alert.
I didn't watch local channels enough to see how they scheduled the alerts. I did notice that channel 4 ran the alert along the bottom of the screen during their news, as opposed to the full screen with screeching noise that the cable channels had.

Comcast has agreed to begin using KSL-TV as their Primary EAS source, as soon as the EAS Plan can be amended. Since KSL-TV only relays the first one or two AMBER alerts, then only relays them if there are changes in the information, this will eliminate the "every 15 minutes" interruption on Comcast.
Personally, I'm still wondering if anybody much carries ALL of the KSL-Radio alerts. Maybe if their station is on "auto-forward", or has some kind of policy..... Anybody notice if others are relaying every fifteen minutes?

I have a couple of Uniden BC370CRS scanners which receive the AM and FM bands and have an "All Hazards" alert receiver built in. One of my scanners is set to KSL 1160, and the other is set to KACP ("Freedom 570"). During the most recent SLC Amber Alert, I noticed that the All Hazards alarm would sound from the scanner tuned to KACP about 5 minutes after the alarm sounded on the scanner tuned to KSL. I didn't time the breaks between the announcements, but I'd guesstimate that the alarms on my scanners were going off about every 15 minutes. I know that the alerts set off the alarms on my scanners often enough that I got tired of the constant "whoop--whoop--whoop" noise and had to tune the scanners to one of the public safety frequencies that didn't set off the All Hazards alarm. After all, a man can only take so much noise, even when electronic gadgetry is involved. For what it's worth, NOAA Weather Radio on 162.550 MHz also broadcast the latest SLC Amber Alert about every 15 minutes. And since I also have a couple of weather radios with the All Hazards Alert feature, the noise level at my house was pretty high that day.
