I've got a really interesting story that I'm trying to send out to the local news outlets (primarily TV news) and I'm absolutely amazed at the lack of easy ways to actually contact the news departments with a tip. You would think with the explosion of social media that this would be a no-brainer. Think again. KUTV and KSTU get a gold star for providing something as simple as an email address! KTVX has a webform that barfed when I tried to send the information. KSL has a webform that has tips for the radio news department but not the TV news department (or are they the same? No idea!) KUED, the one most likely to be interested, has no news contact at all. KBYU gets a pass since I don't think they have any programming that would care. Deseret News, nothing I can find, unless you want to try to figure out who is most likely to like your story and go hunting through the whole site. I couldn't even get the Tribune site to come up at all.
Come on people. This is 2010. If you guys want to remain relevant with the revolution in news coverage that's going on RIGHT NOW you have to get with it. You all should have the basics covered. That's phone tipline, snailmail and email. Hell, you should have had all three 10 years ago. Please, for your own sakes, get with the program.
