Sounds like the cat got out. Sorry I had to put the kibosh on the discussion a while back. I was contacted privately and asked to for some very good reasons, so I did oblige. Now that it's official, it's time to comment. Right now 860 is running Curtis Sliwa from Citadel's WABC. I haven't heard it, but the positioner seems to be Utah's Big Talker. The domain name utahsbigtalker.com was registered by Citadel on Sept 11, but there's no content yet. Anyone hearing what the lineup is?

I don't particularly care for some of the programming choices, but the good that I see coming out of this whole thing is it nips at KSL, which someone had to do to sooner or later. KSL used to have a loyal listener in me until they put IBOC on their AM and dropped Michael Castner. Thats how long I have gone without listening to that station. Now that they demean their AM signal by barely recognizing it, I don't want to listen any more than I did.

Well listening to Phil Hendrie up here in The Tahoe area tonight he welcomed a new affiliate today and he said Utah's Big Talker 860 Am. I am a Hendrie Fan so right now 860 beats KNRS or 570 to me. Also shoveled snow this morning Yuck!!!

Hope someone can get the lineup out. I haven't found one drop of press. Did no one tip off Radio-info?

Seattle, I can assure you nobody tipped off radio-info. I'll see if I can find a line-up somewhere.

Or we could just listen all day long, which I'm sure is what Citadel would like. Early mornings are Imus (also syndicated from WABC). I suppose the only shock there is that Citadel didn't put him on here somewhere earlier. They had him on the True Oldies station in DC just to get the clearance. When was he last on in SL? I think it was when 1280 was KDYL doing talk after they dumped the nostalgia format around 2000 or so.

Salt Lake's radio history is so confusing, I wonder how accurate most of the stations wikipedia articles are. I'd say not very, even though I edit the site.

It's not just radio articles. Wikipedia in general is not very accurate. I would have to go look if a Wikipedia article said the sun comes up in the morning....
In this case though they're right. I did hear a "Utah's Big Talker" positioner today. It was leading into a rerun of the Levin show at 4. The Levin show itself was just awful. He came on and was complaining that Chicago was out of the running for the '16 Olympics and saying how he couldn't believe it, which he followed up by playing the aircheck of the Hindenburg Disaster. Are you kidding me? You're comparing not getting an Olympics to people losing their lives and how witnessing that affected Herb Morrison? Give me a break.

This site is still up: 860thewolf.com/I can't believe that they took that country logo and everything and just left it... then again, if a station doesn't rate, why bother? It's just a combo/added value for someone else (KKAT-FM?).

From what I heard, Citadel used the Wolf name because Simmons was looking to change The Eagle to The Wolf. It makes no sense at all for an oldies station, so that's as good an explanation as any. It makes even less sense given that the calls are KKAT. Just flip them to something random and allow KKAT-FM to drop the suffix. I know it doesn't matter now, but the callsign KUTO (Utah's True Oldies) is available. Or if you want to look toward the future, KUBT is available. I can't find what the cost is, but it can't be that much. I didn't even know Wolf had a website. Doesn't look like I was missing a lot though. I realize it's a generic template, but couldn't they have remove the who's on air part? It's always Shannon.
