Obviously KSL consistently does very well. I wouldn't change anything on weekdays, but I would have to make changes to weekends. I know the accountants wouldn't like it, but I would eliminate all the infomercials, er, paid programming. I know paid programming brings in a LOT of money. I would sacrifice that to ensure the integrity of the station. The last thing I would want would be to have a reputation as a station that will do anything for a buck. That should be true of any station but even more so for a news or news/talk station. I would also want to look at the way any sponsorships (or close to sponsorships) of other specialty programming are written.

Have the parent organization fund a $2-billion-dollar endowment fund. Use the gains the fund generates to --
Staff up the newsroom, and run anchor all news 24/7 (e.g. WTOP). Stream it everywhere (YouTube live, Twitch, etc.) and drop all references to "radio." It's "KSL News Stream 24/7" which happens to be available on radio.

Wouldn't dropping all references to radio make it no different than a million other on-line sources of "information"? I like the idea that I'm getting my news and info from responsible adults, who have to answer to the FCC, and certain Codes of Ethics.

I would restore the Nauvoo Bell. I would restore CBS Radio affiliation and carry CBS News at the TOH as SOP. The top local stories should air at the bottom of each hour. I would split the AM and FM at certain times. I think I would have the FM be all-news all the time, primarily with the CBS radio news stream during overnight hours. Maybe still carry America In the Morning. I have never listened to it, but I would be open to it staying if the quality is there. And no conservative bias. Oh, and of course I would retain Music and the Spoken Word and LDS General Conference. I would partner with KSL TV and the Deseret News to have a 24/7 news room capable of covering breaking local news stories at any time of the day or night. Even during the overnight hours, at least once each hour, there would be a live local news summary. This live reporter/news reader would be the tip of the spear for any breaking overnight news, covering the initial story as other, on call, reporters get up to speed on the story. Maybe this is what KSL already does. I know they make claims that such is the case. Anyone know for sure?
When split, I would have the AM be where live sports is heard. And where long breaking news is heard, such as coverage of a speech or debate. Talk I would move to other stations.

Do you really think there's enough news happening in Salt Lake to justify live anchors 24/7? I don't know about WTOP, but at least one of the all news stations in New York (where there IS news 24/7) doesn't have a live anchor overnights. If there was a good national news source that ran 24/7 (like the old Headline News) I'd love to see that somewhere, but if there is I don't know of it. I do have an idea that's similar, but that's coming up in a couple of weeks.

Pardon misspellings. I would have the AM be all news and sports. So the AM and FM would simulcast Utah's Morning News with Tim and Amanda, Utah's Noon News with Maria Shalayos, and Jeff Kaplan's Afternoon News. Then when BYU, Jazz, or RSL games conflicted with those three programs, the sports would be on the AM and those three news programs would continue to run on the FM. Dave and Dujanovic, Inside Sources, The Movie Show, and KSL at night would be FM only while the AM continued as all news. I think I'd turn off the HD on the AM and bring back the Nauvoo bell at least on the AM side because I'd want to keep the HD on the FM and that makes it delayed. I would get rid of the D and D and Matheson reruns at night and put a live show from 9 to 11 PM and When Radio Was from 11 to midnight. Everything else could stay the same.

I'll have to check out those news feeds. Thanks.
I think the ideas I've seen are good. I have an idea that is similar to some of it but done in a different way. I'll be posting it in a couple of days. I think you might like it.
