I’m hearing KSOP on both 1370 and 1640.
The signal on 1640 signal is considerably weaker than 1370–or compared to K-Talk’s signal.
Anyone know what’s happened to K-Talk?
Interestingly, K-Talk’s normal(!) programming is on their stream.

I just called their "contact" number, and got an intercept message from a nail salon in Los Angeles.

Looks like a planned maintenance power outage, according to Pacificorp. KKAT has power, but KBJA probably has no backup generator. I see a very tiny carrier, probably just a bit of signal from nearby KSOP, back feeding the shared tower through KBJA's final amp.

There's something else. 1640 / 1370 = approx 1.2 Could there be a harmonic involved?
There aren't any planned outages in the area as of now. I see a couple of current outages in the vague area, but those are about 2 miles away and listed as being reported only in the last hour and a half. At this point it looks like a routine outage and should be treated as such until and unless we get additional information.

It's not a harmonic, but I forget the actual name of the process. It's when strong, nearby stations get back in to one or more station's final amps. For instance, 700's second harmonic (1400) is filtered out before it can get to the antenna, but (as expected) exists inside the final PA stage. Nearby stations are picked up by their transmit antenna, and intermod with that 1400 signal, creating images that are radiated by the antenna. Many stations do that, some even full-time. 700 seems to only do it occasionally, often during windy or foul weather, which makes me wonder if there's something loose on a tower or power line. I think the 1370 signal was just being conducted back in to the 1640 transmitter's tuned (but nearly deenergized) circuits, and creating a ghost.

K-Talk was back on this morning. The host said the problem was a "power problem at the tower."
