CA, you mentioned January of 2025. Is that the 20 year anniversary of KSL being on 102.7? No, not quite. The KSL flip happened Sept 3 2005, just in time for the first BYU football game of the season. You're on the right track though. It would probably be the 50th anniversary of implementation of the Newspaper/Broadcast Crossownership Rules, which led to Bonneville having to sell KSFI-FM, or the Church would have to get rid of the Desert News. KSFI wound up under Simmons after that, until the rules changed and Bonneville was able to buy it back.

Is it when KSL ended their decades long affiliation with CBS and became an ABC station? Or maybe the anniversary of Music and the Spoken Word? I enjoyed the Tabernacle Choir singing happy birthday to KSL on that special. The special did mention Parley Baer who went on to do a ton of radio work in L.A. during the golden age--perhaps, most notably, playing Chester on the radio version of Gun Smoke.

The Cross-ownership rules I believe were in '75 though I don't know the date and a look around didn't yield one. Was it a rule change that allowed Bonneville to buy KSFI back or was it just a waiver? In any case that isn't the answer I was looking for. It wasn't the CBS to ABC switch either, which was Aug 3 2005, and MATSW started in 1929. I'll give you all a big hint. It has something to do with this thread. If nobody gets it by Monday I'll end the suspense.
