Can anyone in the Utah County area hear KIXR 1400 well enough to tell if they're still broadcasting "The Sounds of Sunday"? I was listening to an SDR in West Jordan earlier this afternoon, and I heard KALL 700 on 1400 kHz. I can't understand why Sanpete County Broadcasting would be simulcasting ESPN 700 unless they've got an LMA with Broadway Media, so I'm thinking what I heard on 1400 was the second harmonic of 700.

I can’t hear KIXR, but I have heard ESPN 700 on 1400 while waiting in my car near the SL airport. The ID was KALL on 1400, so I’m guessing it’s a second harmonic.

Thanks for the information, Terry. I listened for a legal ID at the TOH on the West Jordan SDR, and the ID was KALL 700. If the second harmonic interference from KALL extends into Utah County, that could prove to be problematic for SPCB. If KIXR ever resumes broadcasting with full 1 kW power, there might be a nasty heterodyne on 1400 from 700 that would make listening to KIXR a very unpleasant experience.

I agree that it must be the second harmonic of 700. The airport is only about 8 miles from the KALL transmitter. I haven't listened for it on 1400, but I've heard the second and third harmonics of KNRS(AM) for about a mile or two from their transmitter, so it seems like KALL's 10x higher power could probably reach the airport at a sufficient power to cause that. West Jordan is about 20 miles away and that I wonder about. We have to take their word that the receiver actually is where they claim it is. The owner could have moved it and forgotten to update the location information, for example. It seems possible to me, but not a slam dunk.
As far as it being a problem, both KALL and KIXR have had the same power and same basic location for decades. Any problem would have been noticed long ago.
