Have not heard any audio on KDYL, the few times I checked today. Do I need to text them?

Are they paying you?
I understand the urge to try to fix something when you see it's broken. I run into it frequently myself. Unless you're on the payroll, it isn't your responsibility. Monitoring stations for problems might make a nice side hustle, but doing it for free more than once in a blue moon doesn't make a lot of sense to me. YMMV

Thank you very much! It is nice to know there are many more people good at heart who love radio than the ones who only do it for money. Because of those few, Broadcasting is so messed up. There are a good number of Station Owners and Operators who allow anyone to go on air as long as they sign a waiver saying they are being compensated with a dollar ($1)... that is why there are so many lunatics misinforming the people, who still think that if they said it on the radio, it must be true... no ethics, no taking responsibility, just making money.

YMMV I look at it as a service to the station, much like sending a Reception Report (in older days). I may not get a QSL Card or stickers, but I sometimes get a "Thank You" in reply. And, I think David lives far outside the KDYL coverage area, too far to monitor the on air.

That said, if someone is doing what amounts to a job for a station they should be appropriately compensated. The amount/frequency of work is the key IMO.

That's what I've always thought about Logo-branded merchandise. If a business wants me to be repping their brand, then they should be paying me to wear it, or at least give it to me for free. (And yes NBA/Utah Jazz, that means you too.)

Amanuensis, if you are able to convince the Utah Jazz to pay you to wear their gear, please let us know how you did it. LOL!

I 100% agree that logo merch deserves at least a discount, but as long as fans are willing to fork over MORE than what the item is worth I don't see that happening.

no, thats not how this works.
Generally, the loonies are either directly paying for their time or theyre not getting a base salary, but selling ads and keep , say 40 percent of what they sell.

Umm, KDYL hasn't been off frequency since the station started broadcasting again this spring. The new owner either had the old transmitter overhauled, or bought a new transmitter that's dead on 1060 kHz. KDYL actually sounds pretty good now. Maybe not as good as it did when the station still had an oldies format and broadcast in CAM-D, but KDYL still sounds 100% better now than it did after the China Radio International folks let it go to pot.

FWIW, KDYL has been off the air since at least 2:00 PM this afternoon. I wonder if the outage could be related to yesterday's weather? With KDYL off, 1060 is a mix of KBGN in Caldwell, and what sounds like KDUS in Tempe.

Anonymous sources tell me that KDYL has not been operating at daytime power levels for a while. They are using the low-power backup/ night transmitter 24/7. 🤔

Running daytime power at night is going to be a problem. Nighttime parameters in the daytime seems unlikely to ruffle anyone's feathers IMO, especially in this case where there's only 1 non-directional tower both day and night. Given the other non-compliant nonsense that's going on elsewhere on the radio and TV dials this doesn't seem like a big deal, but yes of course I think everyone should be fully compliant. They are using the low-power backup/ night transmitter 24/7. 🤔 I'm not sure the station is even on the air right now. I've checked 1060 on several of my most sensitive radios and heard nothing for several days now. I had the same results with online SDR's in Corrine and West Jordan. Even if KDYL is using their low power/backup transmitter, I should be able to hear SOMETHING on the West Jordan SDR if they're actually on the air.
