A transfer of control for KOGN was filed with the FCC on June 8th, 2022; to reassign control from Familia Broadcasting, LLC to Radio Positiva, Inc. No there wasn't. An AMENDMENT to last September's transfer of control was filed. The amendment was a page extending the LMA and clarifying the licensee's control of the station. Unless you're into legalese there's nothing to see here.

KOGN was mentioned in the station sales column in today's edition of Radio Insight, but the information seems much the same as a similar blurb published in Radio Insight last September. I'm guessing that the most current announcement has something to do with the amendment CA mentioned. radioinsight.com/headlines/234150/station-sales-week-of-7-22/

I'm guessing that the most current announcement has something to do with the amendment CA mentioned. Why would a news site wait a month and a half to mention something had been filed? There was another amendment filed Tuesday, but that wasn't the news either. The news was that the application was granted on Wednesday. RI should have made that clearer. There's still no consummation notice or request to remain silent. Let's hope that once the station officially changes hands the new owner will maintain the station and its FCC filings better than the old one did.

Yesterday you said "I'm guessing that the most current announcement has something to do with the amendment CA mentioned." That amendment I mentioned was filed June 8. The story you linked to yesterday was also published yesterday, July 22. That's where the month and a half came from.

FWIW the sale has now closed. Still no sign of a silent request or anything about a new transmitter site. With any luck there will be something filed soon, but I'm not holding my breath.

I wouldn't bet on Positiva Radio filing a notification with the FCC, either. KOGN went silent shortly before Christmas 2021, and the tower and studio building were demolished sometime in February 2022. If Positiva were to file an STA request now, they'd have to fudge the date that KOGN went silent, since they've already exceeded the time allotted for notifying the FCC. Not a good idea with the FCC's renewed crackdown on silent AM stations, e.g. KMRI's license being renewed for only one year. www.broadcastlawblog.com/2022/07/articles/fcc-cracking-down-on-long-periods-of-station-silence-short-term-renewals-for-radio-stations-silent-more-than-25-of-license-term/FWIW, I drove past the former location of the KOGN studio and the KVOG/KOET TV building recently, and it appears that storage units are being built on the site. That strikes me as being a bit odd, since there already at least a half dozen storage unit sites within a mile of Gibson Avenue.

It would be easy enough for Positiva to just blame Familia. A new owner shouldn't be held accountable for what a previous owner did.
Storage units being built there doesn't surprise me at all since the land was advertised as such, and I seem to recall looking into the business dealings of the new owner and finding storage facilities.
