KALL 700 finally fixed their FM translator. Excellent audio now. And the FM signal does not drop out at all as I move my receiver around the house.

I'm wondering if Broadway Media invested in a new translator for 92.1. I was scanning the FM band with one of my Sangean radios earlier this afternoon, and I was surprised when the auto scan stopped on 92.1. I've NEVER been able to hear the KALL translator before now, and if I set my radio next to the picture window in my living room, 92.1 sounds as good as a full power FM station. Too bad Broadway can't find another translator or full power FM signal to broadcast KOOL FM on. Even though I have several HD radios, it's sometimes hard to get a lock on HD signals where I live.

Broadway still doesn't own the translator.
It seemed like that translator wasn't getting out as far as it should, and I think it wasn't. It's licensed pattern is highly directional toward the northeast from near Farnsworth, but it was approved a month ago for a much looser pattern. The increase in power toward Ogden isn't that much higher though. It could be that there were problems with whatever they were using before and they got fixed while switching to the new pattern.

I know I shouldn't complain but I'm going to anyway. 92.1 comes in great from our car around the 5th South and Redwood Road area but the audio sounds like a somewhat standard quality AM signal. My guess then is that the translator is being fed by an AM receiver somewhere. There's even a bit of whistle in the signal. Sorry, I'm not technical so I don't know what you would call that. Admittedly, I'm spoiled by doing most of my radio listening via internet streaming and, I understand it might be more trouble than it's worth, but I wish they could send the signal to 92.1 the same way they send it to their internet stream, I'm guessing right from the board, rather than using an AM radio. Thoughts?

According to its FCC filings, the translator is fed by microwave. What's feeding the microwave is unknown.
There seems to be a difference in opinion about the quality of the audio which I can't explain.

A few days ago when they came on with their improved signal, the audio was excellent. I did notice that it was a local program.
Today and yesterday the audio is lower quality and has a whistle in the background. It’s still much better than in weeks past, but not good enough for “prime time”.
