Is KTUB off the air (Thursday, 6:20 PM)? I heard them earlier, on daytime power. Usually hear them OK at night. Not a trace now...just a few talkers.

I'm hearing KTUB loud and clear in NE Ogden at 8:20 PM. Maybe something went haywire when the transmitter switched to night power, and it took a little while for the transmitter to reset itself.

I thought "switching problem", too. But, still not hearing them in Midvale at 10 PM. I wonder if their pattern didn't switch, but they are on night power. They are in West Bountiful, I think. 1 KW omni should make it here.

Do you have that backwards Ken or am I confused? KTUB is directional nights but non-directional days. Either way you should be getting about the same signal days and nights.
Directional signals are something I really don't get at all. Is it possible the tower that broadcasts the southward lobe has failed?

I was wondering if the transmitter went to low power (1 Kw) at sunset, but the DA didn't switch. Normally, that 1 KW would go north and south, but into an omni antenna pattern, it would be weaker all around. My other thought, like you mentioned, was the tower. Has something happened to one tower, or maybe the ground radials?

Can't hear them at all inside. Taking the radio outdoors, they were barely there just before power change, and disappeared in to a jumble of other signals at 5:30.

I'm guessing there's a problem with KTUB's nighttime directional signal based on what you're describing. I'm hearing the station loud and clear in NE Ogden again tonight, with a Spanish play by play of the New Orleans Saints-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.

That's awesome Alpha carries that broadcast, to bad the local sports stations don't seem to carry any broadcasts of nfl games...At least theres satellite radio.

With the call-sign KTUB, the station should run a "clean music that the whole family can listen to" kind of format.

Hasn't ESPN 700 carried the NFL for quite a while? According to the Westwood One station finder, the only radio stations in Utah that carry the primetime NFL games are KOAL 750 (Price), and KHKR 1210 (St. George).

KALL used to, KFNZ did up until they signed off IIRC, and i think KZNS was the most recent station in the valley which carried games. I believe they stopped after the 2018 season.
