I knew that Jon Carter would be starting on KYMV Bob FM Monday morning so, this morning, I was curious who Zion FM would get to replace Jon since he would be on in Salt Lake. It turns out that Jon is still doing the KZYN 1041 Zion FM morning show in St. George as well. His Zion show starts at 6 and his Bob show starts at 7. I was flipping back and forth between the two of them this morning. I think someone mentioned that Jon might be voice tracking his St. George show. Since he's on for three hours at the same time on two different stations he would have to voice track right? I've got to hand it to him. I wonder if he'll ever accidentally slip in a Zion where Bob is supposed to go or vice versa. I wonder how long Redrock and broadway are going to be okay with this situation. Good for Jon. Thoughts?

Doubt it's a problem. They are different ad markets.

With today's computer assisted playlists it's theoretically possible to coordinate two stations and be live on both, but that would be so insane I would have a hard time believing anyone would be nuts enough to even try it. It could be that he's voicetracking both. One cool possibility might be doing it in near realtime. He could alternate recording the voicetracks for each station a half hour or an hour before they will air (to give a cushion in case of a problem) and then send them to each station to drop into the automation system. He might also be live on one and voicetracking the other during songs/stopsets/etc. I'm sure he could do it, though whether he is is pure speculation by me. One way to keep straight when station he's working on would be keeping a cue card in front of him. That's a trick that's been used by talent working for multiple stations for decades. Sometimes it goes really wrong. Example: JackPackardTUR.mp3 (479.01 KB)

I view traffic reporting as an aspect of overall news reporting. Thus, if a traffic reporter is not using his or her real name for their reports, then they should be using an obviously fictitious name, like "General Gridlock" did.

It's been a while since I heard the name General Gridlock.
