New station on SLC's 96.7 translator

I gave the new station a try at lunch time. It is still not coming in clearly in West Jordan (too much competition from Logan) but it seems like a nice station but not my preferred music format. I did not hear any branding, so I don't know what it is called.

I am unsure whether the format is AAA or a lighter AOR. Or if it is 90's "oldies". I didn't listen long enough to be sure.

I’m pretty sure that this.is not the final “new format”. I’m guessing we’re still hearing Mr. Mueller’s 2 hour laptop loop.

By the way, I don’t think I’d call it an SLC translator. If I'm not mistaken it’s located atop Lake Mountain with its major lobe directed at Saratoga Springs. It’s also licensed to Saratoga Springs.

And the Logan station we hear is a booster near Tremonton (KKEX-1) with a straight shot across Great Salt Lake toward SL valley.

I wouldn't call it an SLC translator either, but that does differentiate it from KKEX or KQMB and remembering K244DH can be tricky. The major lobe is in the general direction of Saratoga Springs but barely touches it.

I guess I think of it as a SLC translator because of where it used to be located, back in the days when KUSU tried to reach Salt Lake City at the 96.7 frequency.

For the past few days there has been no audio on 96.7 though the RF is still there. The audio is also missing on KKUT HD4 though the RF is still there.

Have they still been running the test loop all this time?

Yep, except on Sundays when they were running some LDS music program.

No, we haven't been running the test loop, though we also still hadn't had our full library going. The station is down because our STL is down. We're putting a new system in place which should fix the dropout problem.

I think I heard the new 96.7 the other day at my house. It seemed to be 70's intensive format.

Frank, any idea on when you'll officially launch and can you give us any more details on the format/branding/etc?

A failed hard drive and bad STL solution kept us from doing a full launch. Hoping to have both fixed next week. I can't publicly say on format and branding, but it shouldn't be a surprise

I was listening to the online stream for Utah's Goat and heard the 6 AM legal ID. The lady still said KQMB Levan. That may or may not have any significance.

I’m hearing “Utah’s Goat” on KKUT HD4. The station ID included KQMB Levan. I’m not hearing the 96.7 translator. I’m guessing it’s not on the air.

That's been there a long time, even while KQMB was off the air I believe.

While we're on the subject though, I've been remiss in not mentioning that I think she has a great voice. If I'm not mistaken that's Mrs fmdj1.

Thank you. Yes, that is my wife and I agree, I think she has a great voice as well. I'd love to do a regular show with her if we can ever get that far
The KQMB should have been removed but since we had to temporarily swap things around, it is currently on KKUT's HD4 and KQMB again, but that will change as soon as we get the new STL installed, which I'm hoping will be by the end of the week (God willing and the creek don't rise).
