Who is Arch Madsen, and why can't his name be mentioned on ksl.com?
A couple of times in the past few days, the story of the turmoil over the VOA has been reported by the AP. Both times, I have mentioned Arch Madsen. Both times, my comment was rejected, and the story showed "0 Comments". To me, that says "No one cares enough about this story to even comment".

A quick web search turns up that he founded Bonneville International, so do you mean beyond that? Maybe the moderator(s) are being overly cautious since his name is directly connected with KSL's parent company. Have you been able to successfully post comments before? It's possible there was a problem there.

Arch not only founded Bonneville International, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the entire operation that includes the VOA. He was very passionate about broadcasting truth to the whole world. BIC, for many years, operated WNYW shortwave, which broadcast truth and a better image of America to the world. I just suspect he would be rolling over in his grave at the prospects of the VOA being turned over to the politicians. I post quite a bit to KSL.com, but it seems that they rarely publish any comments that are positive to the broadcast industry.

I really like KSL radio and KSL.com, and they are my go-to source for local, national, and breaking news. Having said that, I think some of the KSL.com comment board moderators are very arbitrary and capricious in deciding which posts are approved and which posts are rejected. A case in point: earlier this afternoon, I submitted a comment in response to a post on an article about the five officers who recently resigned from the Salt Lake City PD. Someone had said the resignations were just normal attrition, which was contrary to what Jeff Kaplan had said on the afternoon news a couple of days ago. Jeff said that normal attrition for the SLCPD was 1-2 officers resigning or retiring in a year, and I reiterated that information in the comment I submitted. My post was rejected. IMO, I've seen a lot of posts on KSL.com that I consider to be more offensive than what I attempted to post this afternoon. There seems to be no clearly defined standards for what causes some comments to be accepted and others to be rejected.

Personally, I think the posts are selected for their shock value, much like supermarket tabloids. Go for maximum Google Hits, I guess. Unfortunately, many people read the comments assuming that's what "everybody" thinks, and they do dumb things like refuse to wear masks, or parrot dumb ideas like "it's just like the sniffles", and "you can't get sick unless your sickly and old". I have to wonder what DDM's liability would be in all this. KSL only provides the story, while DDM acts as an independent aggregator.

FWIW, Arch Madsen was also the first station manager of KOVO 960. I'm not sure how long Arch was KOVO's manager, but the station first went on the air in 1939.
