Family Radio isn't going anywhere in the near term. Yes, they've cashed out on big market FM's that they got when nobody cared about FM. But they've been replacing those stations with lower profile stations and pocketing the difference. They sold the big stations in Baltimore/Washington, Philly and New York. The Philly station they recently replaced and the NY station sale came with a replacement built in. Those were all full market commercial band station though. KUFR is first in the non-commercial band and second is only 220 watts at only a bit above ground level covering little more than Salt Lake itself. I could see a buyer for it, but it isn't going to get a lot of money. Maybe USU could buy it, but I tend to doubt it. They would still want to be on the air here, and it would be hard to trade down to a lower profile signal from where they already are.

Ken if I remember how things went correctly, KUFR is the primary for a bunch of translators. The primary was switched after Family Radio swapped stations in San Francisco. They were originally on 106.9, but they sold that to CBS and also got 610AM in exchange. An AM can't be a non-fill-in primary (or couldn't at the time at least), so I think they moved the primary status to KUFR. If they did get rid of KUFR, there are plenty of other full service stations that could serve as primary, so that wouldn't be an issue. Whether they want to sell is a different matter.
