Hi Guys - I thought I would use the power of this forum to hopefully reach out to some of the engineers that monitor this list. Also I do apologize if I should have posted this somewhere else here in the forum....I just figured this part of the forum is the most read.
Here at KEVA in Evanston WY we have a Burk ARC-16 remote control that controls our transmitter and calls us if something is wrong. It's basically our "walkaway" system. The ARC-16's Enhanced Speech Interface card has bit the dust. The remote control works fine but it won't dial out or answer the phone if we call it. We are down to just 2 employees now. Burk tried to help a little bit but of course it came down to "but we can gladly sell you a new one....." All I need is another ESI card. The guy said the current ESI card they handle would require a motherboard upgrade in the unit. Obviously we cannot afford that. Extremely tight budget is an understatement but desperation is in effect here too. Both myself and the other employee will be out of state for Thanksgiving holidays next month so there would be no way we can check on things or turn the station back on if it goes off. We really need to get this remedied by then. We only have a few hundred dollars to spend if that. I'd like to fix our burk but I would be happy to put in some other remote control as well (Brodcast tools, Gentner, Sine Systems) if need be. Just not sure that we could get our hands on one for a few hundred dollars. Do any of you have anything lying around collecting dust? Please contact me if you do.
