It's that time again.
ZHT continues its march upwards while KSL stays down, though down is a relative term here. KSL is noticeably down from 6 months ago but it still has 2nd place in the 6+ ratings, so they're doing quite well from all indications. ZHT has had about the same increase over the same period, so they must be doing something right. Kudos to them.
KBULL had a nice uptick this month.
The one everyone was waiting for, of course, was to see what KLO did with the addition of the FM. If you want a one word summary (assuming that Arbitron's calculations are accurate of course, which you would be smart not to assume) it would be "dismal". The new KLO-FM barely showed in the ratings at all and the AM stayed about the same. At the moment they're being listed separately, though I'm not quite sure why, which is why I added the disclaimer. Need a little more time to see but initial impressions are really really bad.
As far as how the sports war is shaping up, things are kind of interesting there as well. KFNZ fell off the map when the Miller properties moved a few months back and they are going pretty much nowhere. The Yahoo Sports Radio stuff is not getting it done. At least they have a website (sortof) now, but have you seen the new logo? Yeesh. Sister KJQS didn't show in the ratings at all though. Meanwhile Zone 1280 is doing relatively well. They're maintaining a whole number rating. The Fox Sports Radio 97.5 isn't doing much better than K-Fan, though that's not surprising to me. I suspect 1280/97.5 will benefit a lot once basketball season starts though. Meanwhile Clear Channel's KALL 700 just keeps on trucking, still keeping where it's been.
Speaking of Clear Channel, there may be some life in KKAT 860 after all. They've been steadily treading upwards over the last 6 months. Granted the ratings are still poor, but they've gone from being on life support and barely showing to having a fighting chance by adding at least a tenth of a point every month for 6 months. I'd love to get a look at what show(s) are growing.
