New ratings out. I'll just comment that over the last 3 months a lot of the ratings are all over the map.

CA ... I hate to be the raincloud, but I really think radio has kind of died. Arbitron is struggling (albeit, keeping it quiet) to even find a reputable sample size of PPM participants. There's so little enthusiasm on any of the message boards anymore.

I can't comment on issues Arbitron is having, but you're right about a lack of enthusiasm. The odd thing is that broadcast radio listenership is actually going up. So I guess the takeaway is that people are listening, but there isn't the passion. The passion is what drives the money, which is a problem. If you have the radio on in the background and aren't really paying attention to it, ads aren't going to make that much of an impact. If companies don't see results from the ads they aren't going to buy more. That hurts radio. I hate to use the dreaded "e" word (engagement) but that's what needs to happen. Get the listener involved with something they want to actively listen to rather than passively hear and everything else should fall in behind it.
