I'm excited to see the competition ... but a bit baffled.
Why would Citadel cannibalize KBER's audience to try and beat out a rim-shot signal? It still doesn't make any sense in the long run. KHTB is just about as useful at Pop FM (KPQP) was - basically a B98.7 copy.
Citadel: C'mon guys! Move Legends to 94.9 and be done with it. How else am I going to get some wacked-out future owner of 107.5 to flip it to dance for me? (j/k)

Maybe the long term plan is to end up combining K-Bear and 94.9 Rocks, but that's really risky. They could establish a new 94.9 and then funnel listeners over to K-Bear, but then listeners are asked to move again after they just found the station. Risky. They could also shut down K-Bear and funnel those listeners over to 94.9. Very risky, given 101.1's heritage.
And then there's the Country Legends question. It seems to be doing reasonably well in 12+, and it seems strange that Citadel would let the format go when it sells the 107.5 facility. To keep it, they'll have to move it somewhere else. The logical answer is the 94.9 facility. Even if they don't want to move it now, put a placeholder there, but not one that cannibalizes your other station. Why not simulcast The True Oldies Channel from 860 there if it's only temporary?
Right now it doesn't make sense. I give a high likelihood that there's a piece missing we don't know about. Either that, or somebody isn't thinking things through.

Rog,
Please stop defending yourself over there (blue board) You know what you built and it's very succesful you should be proud of it. They trusted you with programming a station and you built a winner and it will Blaze on.

Thanks Pete and I agree with you - I am proud of what we've done. So why would I be silent about it?

I don't know what's going on at that other place, but don't get into a back and forth like 'you suck!" "no I don't!" "yes you do!" kinda thing. That just looks silly.
Everyone at The Blaze should be proud of what they've done. The station is successful. You can't argue with that. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that. Now, some people won't like it because they don't like that kind of music or that style of presentation or something along those lines, but you can't argue with good results.

I get ya. I don't think it's really deteriorating into that kind of discussion. I kinda started anyway. As long as people want to discuss it, I'm game. I'm tired of the policy of silence. As long as there is nothing legally binding me from speaking my mind, I'm gonna do it.
Thanks for all your support fellas. It means a lot!

[glow=red,2,300]94.9 dark forever! [/glow] My friend in Utah just picked up that the Blaze is on 97.5. The good news? He tends to use cheap crappy radios... so I guess the boosters managed to reach him. Hopefully that means the main is on too.

97.5 sounds much better in Amurrican Fark today! Waiting on that good ol' RDS though... any word on that? on either stick?

This all reminds me of when ZHT moved.
Hey Rog: I've "Reset my Preset" to 97.5. Cause remember, The Blaze is "Bigger and Better at 97 point ................. um, FIVE!"

hahahaha...that's awesome. I've actually said that a couple times. Hope CC didn't copyright it! YES the booster array is up and going. I think the main will be on next week. Our contour is a little more eastern than it used to be so Tooele and parts of Magna are still left out. Not sure what we can do about that. But the boosters have basically made our 60 dBu coverage the same as 94.9's and we're now in places we never were before (up north especially). Billboads and busboards are up, as are the TV commercials. Print stuff is going as well. It's definitely full speed ahead, but it's not over by a long shot. It's going to be an interesting year!

You know what this means, right? The new 94.9 station (whatever they call it) is destined to wind up moving to 97.9 and displacing The Breeze. Oh, and the only thing CC copyrighted was 'this is not a joke or a stunt. *snort*" The snort part is important. The rest you can copy freely.
