I'm surprised no one's posted about this- Now that 97.5 FM is part of the trust held by the consultant/seller and Wyoming broadcaster (along with "Jack FM" and "the Zone"), it's flipped off the "Jack FM" adult hits format and back to its previous active rock roots. Big ROG (miss him) pulled a stunt that made it look like he "went rogue" and did it himself... anyway, here's the link to the blog post. www.975theblaze.com/musicdetail.php?id=65Since I'd forgotten which stations went to whom when this sale went final, here's a refresher course: Simmons takes on rhythmic “U92” KUUU, South Jordan, CHR “Mix 107.9” KUDD, Roy, Utah, and adult alternative “104.7 The Point” KYLZ, Lyman. Other Millcreek or Simmons Media full-power FMs (plus some associated boosters) are being placed into one of two different trusts. The trust to be run by Larry Patrick will have three stations from Millcreek (“Mix” simulcast partner KUDE, Nephi at 103.9, plus classic rock simulcast of KZZQ, Coalville at 97.5 and KAUU, Manti at 105.1). Plus three current Simmons stations: classic hits “103.1 Jack FM” KJQN, Coalville, country “Diamond” KDWY, Diamondville, Wyoming at 105.3, and sports “1280 The Zone” KZNS, Salt Lake City. The second trust is run by Jim Burgoyne and includes country “Eagle” KEGH, Brigham City (106.9) and adult standards KMGR, Delta (95.9) from Millcreek sister 3 Point Media.

Some people are on the site were saying it was a publicity stunt and was faked. I don't know what to believe but I have seen the videos.
We'll see what happens when the ratings come out in the next couple of quarters. I think its a good move back, because the rockin' hits format was pretty lame and over done.

It's a stunt: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UqMXm-863QNo market manager would put up with somebody "going rogue." That said, they went to a lot of trouble, and got Lieutenant Don Hudson with Unified Police in on it, which shows both the cops and The Blaze have a good sense of humor. Good stunt!

Yes, this has stunt written all over it: www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1235023732085&comments- Poetik Cee happens to notice an "off-duty" car - Police enter the Blaze studios right as the camera appears - Police send Don Hudson, the Public Information Officer (PR person) and not a uniformed cop - Lt. Hudson refers to him as "Rog" (air name) and not "Mr. Orton" - The mics remained live and management didn't switch them off - They play Pat Benetar immediately afterward, which is soft even for the Rockin' Hits format Too many details to be real, sadly. But still, it made a great stunt!

If it had been "Heartbreaker," perhaps. But "We Belong?" That's an FM 100 exclusive!

I'm clearly missing something. When was Jack on 97.5?

I'm clearly missing something. When was Jack on 97.5? My impression (from out of the area, mind you) was that 97.5's "Rockin Hits" format was very much like "Jack FM" adult hits.

The more I look at this, I agree, it was a stunt... despite what "Wikipedia" says. What is funny is there was no mention of this in the media outside of the Blaze's website itself. Wouldn't a real arrest generate some form of media (i.e. where was the SL Trib or Deseret News).
There are too many things that you guys pointed out that don't make sense. I think the biggest thing is the cop is not a uniformed police officer and there aren't other cops there. No rights were read to Rog, not to mention Kvon's acting isn't very serious. It was a good stunt but it was just that, a stunt. Someone would've been disciplined for spray painting their van too, destruction of property. Instead they let it happen.

Rog is just too smart a guy to really do something like that. Gotta be a stunt, I agree.
I don't think I would characterize the previous Blaze format as a Jack clone. That said, looking at today's Jack playlist it looks a lot more like a true Jack station then it was a year or two ago. Interesting.

Apparently Simmons has talked this trust into airing KEGA on 105.1 - no clear benefit to me to do that, but whatever. According to the report on that other board, only the Utah County booster and not the 105.1 main is on-air currently.

Yes, Eagle is on 105.1 now. *sigh* I don't know how anyone expects to get any traction on this signal when they change it every few months. I think the idea is that the stations that have been on it (at least U92, Blaze and Eagle) have some problems penetrating into the Provo/Orem area.
Moving on to KMGR 95.9, they've received their construction permit for the move to Humpy. I don't think anything else needs to happen for them to be able to make the move, but the weather at Humpy isn't likely to be good for a while.

So what is on 101.5 now? I haven't been able to receive their main from here for several weeks (possibly due to problems).

The Eagle is still on 101.5, but instead of The Blaze being on 105.1, it's now The Eagle. Interesting as in American Fork and points near, I've not had trouble with 101.5's signal, but 97.5, otoh, has always been rough so flipping to 105.1 has been great. Interesting decision.

That's odd because the boosters for 101.5 and 97.5 are absolutely identical. Both of them do have construction permits to change the pattern, and maybe there's something going with that or possibly the 97.5 booster isn't even on the air.
