Despite a one year experiment as "B 97.3" Bonneville pulled the plug on 18-year market veteran KBSG-FM today at 11 am. The station will flip August 12 to a direct simulcast of News Talk 710 KIRO. According to the FAQ page about the change, the Mariners will only be on AM for the time being and the Seahawks will be broadcast on both AM and FM as previously announced. No word on HDRadio changes. Bonneville appears to want to give up on music formats just like all other broadcasters... it's a miracle they all haven't just turned off those licenses and gone online... oh wait, cars aren't *quite* there for most of the general public. mynorthwest.com/?sid=77899&nid=130Statement by station management: mynorthwest.com/?nid=106 This move has been in discussion since a year ago/station purchase and latest Miller-Kaplan reports for KBSG show it losing ground from years past. KTTH-AM is holding steady and KIRO-AM is gaining revenue share in the market.

That's roughly comparable to Salt lake in that the AM is a 50kw non-directional (at least by day) and the FM is a full class C. It should help a little at night, since KiRO goes directional, but I'm not as sure during the day. Has anyone seen any breakdowns lately of AM/FM talk simulcasts? particularly I'd be interested in KSL AM/FM. KSL certainly promotes 102.7 every chance it gets. Everybody must know it by now.
