I know this isn't entirely radio-related but I need to get this word spread. Some of you may have seen the news articles on TV or in the papers about the missing 28 year old mother of 2 boys, Susan Powell. They are good friends of mine and I was shocked to find out about this news. Another friend of the family setup a Facebook Group for information sharing and her father has contributed with actual conversations he's had with local police. Find and join the group here: www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=198478842187Those who work on-air, please try to work some of this information into your broadcasts today. We really need the word spread to help us find Susan. CA, I understand if this needs to be moved to General, but if you could let it live here for a day or two, that would be great. Thank you all so much! -Timmy

There is actually a radio/TV related story here that I've been meaning to bring up for a while. It's all well and good that people want to do a good deed and help solve a crime, but I have to wonder about all the other missing people around the country that nobody ever hears of. It doesn't seem fair to me that one case gets a huge amount of attention (sometimes on a national scale) while other cases might get a paragraph in the back of the local paper if they're lucky. A lot never get any press at all, and those are in the millions. (Some sobering stats at www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/missingpersons.htm)Thoughts?

True.
This story made the local Fox broadcaster here as the top story on Saturday. Then again, Tribune seems to have NO bodies here. Also, the missing woman is from "Pull-y'all-up" Puyallup, Wa.

Timmy -
I won't say who I work for in town, but we hit the story pretty hard. Hope it helps. Also let people know about the Facebook group.

The Cox family (Susan's) have organized a Candlelight Vigil to be held in Washington State this Sunday evening at 7pm PST. For those in that area, they're invited to attend. For the rest of the world-at-large, they've requested we honor that event by taking a moment of prayer at that time. You may also feel like lighting your own candle for your own private Vigil.
Thank you.

Thanks for the info, Timmy.
I hope I don't sound insensitive, since you are somewhat connected with this event. But am I far off-base thinking this Mr. Powell is Guilty with a capital-"G?" That's the impression I got from the family's press conference.

Henry, I prefer not to speculate. They were both good friends and I'd hate to think Josh had anything to do with it. I admit the given info sure looks bad but I'm holding hope that things come out well for all.

I don't like calling things before they are over, but everything that has happened is really suspicious. I don't know everything about this case, but to me it looks like an open/shut with the husband. Just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry to bring it up, Timmy. I'm sure it's very hard. I just found the family's reaction at their press conference earlier this week, which I watched, a bit interesting.
Hopefully the best can come out of all this. Maybe there's some angle to the story we don't know yet that will help explain it all.

I appreciate all your concerns. I also am pretty sure the police are keeping things very tightly wrapped until there's something solid to use. There may be someone entirely different that comes out of the investigation. So it looks like we will be holding a vigil in West Valley City along with the one in Washington Sunday night. We are even talking about having a prayer and singing Silent Night at the same time as they do up in WA. Everyone is invited. It's probably going to be at the LDS ward building near Hunter Park. Details will be finalized and posted at the Facebook Group page: bit.ly/findsusanThanks again!
