The translator on 99.1 that simulcasts Freedom 570 (by way of 99.5 HD2) is way way behind. There's a delay of about 50 (five-oh) seconds between the two. I know that 7.5-8 of those can be blamed on digital delay, but this is just nuts. I can't think of why they would do that. Ideas?

50 seconds seems a bit much.
KBER I know has as much as a 17 second delay due to 2 reasons... HD Radio adds the majority, and they have a seperate delay in case someone curses etc.
I don't think its the same here though. Maybe its coming off the Internet??

Digital+dump button makes sense. Unfortunately both are necessary. 50 seconds is way beyond that. It seems looney to me to rely on the net (which is fairly unstable) when there's a cheaper and easier way. Sure you can feed it by alternate means since it's a fill-in translator, but why not go down to Best Buy, grab a digital radio and stick it in there? That might also make sure the engineers keep the digital sideburns, er I mean sidebands, working.

KUOW up here is having an issue with its Bellingham translator and is being forced to use an Internet feed. I don't know why they would have lost the ability to use HD all of a sudden other than a sign on of 104.1 FM in Vancouver (harmonics with 94.9 FM?) Coming off the internet would explain why 99.1 sounds so muffled. I have another idea what may be causing it. On top of a few delays in the chain, the station may be broadcasting 99.1 from a phone line device called a "Comrex." Regardless of how its set up, you can never get it realtime. The delay on a Comrex is short though, we're talking seconds. I have no ideas other than that.
