In the Christmas thread I mentioned that 100.3 HD2 is currently playing their non Christmas format. CAwasinNJ said that HD only subchannels were irrelevant and if we wanted to discuss his premise further to create a new thread so here it is. I would say that the relevance of HD only subchannels depends on whether you have an HD radio or not. Obviously they're completely irrelevant if you don't other than the three we have in the Salt Lake market that I'm aware of do stream on the internet and smart speakers. I think the HD ONLY subchannels in our market are X96 Classic on 96.3 HD2, Soft Sunday Sounds on 100.3 HD2, and the Arrow's Deep Tracks on 103.5 HD2. I just remembered you have the BBC World Service on 90.1 HD2 and Classical 24, I think it's called, on 90.1 HD3. I know we've discussed this before and the general consensus is that HD has generally been a failure which is too bad because I think it's cool. Probably the only reason it has survived at all is for the ability to use it to feed translators. But CA, I'm definitely interested in what you have to say about it. I was only pointing out the non Christmas on KSFI HD2 in case someone had an HD Radio and wasn't aware of it and might be interested.

As I mentioned back when we bought it, I wanted an HD radio in the car we purchased and was told that it had it. It didn't. So the only time I listen to HD radio is when I am streaming. That said, I listened to KRSP2 today as I worked. I like their mix better than KRSP1.
I think that KBYU HD 2 has BYU radio still. Which of course duplicates 107.9, but perhaps for some people it comes in better than 107.9

HD radio is getting more market penetration as more and more vehicles are coming with it standard. HD/DTS is also pushing the integrated dash etc. We have quite a few listeners on our HD2. We do HD right. i wish some others in this market did a better job at it.
