K03JD-D has been constructed and is now emitting a signal. That signal is digital gibberish AFAICT, but it is there. Now we'll have to see what programming might emerge.

I see the signal in Midvale...just the pilot and some data. I haven't tried a receiver yet. Don't know why they wanted a low-VHF channel though. Nobody but TV DXers probably watching. Do you think they will send QSL cards😉?

Pilot? Did you mean carrier?
It was originally on Ch 47 but had to move during the repack. The request doesn't give a reason for the choice of Ch 3 but the availability of channels must have been a consideration. Maybe even the consideration of channels at Wendover combined with what was available between there and Vision. We can't see them from here but there are a lot of LPTVs in the VHF band in the rural areas around the Wasatch Front.

The carrier at about 310 KHz above the lower edge of the channel is also called a pilot. It's purpose under ATSC 1.0 was to create a frequency reference, and a pilot carrier for AGC in the older tuners. I could see their pilot nice and solid, so I knew something was there (ones and zeros), but didn't have a way to try and decode it. I think that there are still plenty of VHF-capable antennas in areas that had translators before, so many folks still use them, with or without adding a UHF.

DS, I'm not sure that's K03JD. KUTA on RF 13 up in Ogden is already assigned virtual 3 and their coverage area is almost completely overlapped by K03JD so I don't see how both could use the same virtual channel. The Valley Channel is also a Cache Valley thing, though it could be a simulcast for some reason. Can you tell what RF channel what you're seeing is on?
Ken, thanks for the clarification.

I suspect many people will have severe overload/desense problems due to the FM channels up there. KBYU (89.1) is on Mount Vision, and KBEE (98.7) and KJMY (99.5) are just a few feet away, on the lower edge of Mount Nelson. I called Standard Supply, to see if they carry FM Trap filters, but they don't stock them. Here's a link to Channel Master: www.channelmaster.com/collections/splitters-combiners-filters

Yep. That's K03JD alright. Interesting choices in programming. I don't think I'd be watching anything there myself. Maybe they could pick up Nost or Ace or some of the networks that KPDR used to carry.

Sorry CA and others for the turned picture that's what happens when you work 14 hours on a 12 hour grave shift

The full size image is actually oriented correctly thanks to the EXIF information in the file, FWIW.
And thank you for posting that.

After several scans, I still don't see it in northern Davis County but I'm also using an indoor antenna.

It's true that being an indoor antenna doesn't help reception. Are you sure you have an antenna rated for VHF? I was sure my main antenna was both VHF and UHF but when I checked it I found out I was wrong. Mine is rated for UHF only. It does pick up the signal but not enough to properly decode it. I suppose I could upgrade but there isn't anything on K03JD that I want to see anyway.
