BYU Radio also ran an LDS "pop" music format when it was just a web stream. But the catalogue was really thin. During the 1980s, artists like Michael McLean were churning out pop stuff very quickly. But when LDS artists couldn't get picked up by Christian labels, the market dried up.
That's partially why an "LDS pop music" genre never formed in the same way Christian contemporary did. And without a fresh stream of new tracks, the radio format was never viable.
That's why BYU Radio switched to talk. Why pay satellite-radio royalties for stale 80s LDS pop? Money better spent on making something new.

I bought several of Michael McLean's albums back in the day. But now, I agree with Henry -- it seems that there is little out there for an LDS pop station to play. Maybe a case of "if you build it, they will come"? I am sure there are artists aspiring to produce LDS pop.
