For those of you who didn't change the color scheme of the board in your settings, welcome to the first revision since our launch in 2008. Frankly this is WAY overdue. Sorry about that. This will be the default for the holiday season and there will be a new regular one on or about Jan 1.
For any registered users who don't like the new look, don't worry. The original look is still available. Start by clicking on the profile link at the top of the page, then click 'Edit Profile' on the right side and select the Settings tab. In the Forum Theme dropbox selecting 'Original 2008' will restore the old look. Make sure to click 'Save Account Settings' at the bottom. You can also check out the Blue Board theme if that's more to your liking. For guests I'm sorry but I don't think there's a way you can change it, but you can always register.
Comments? Make them here. I may have missed something somewhere.

Yep. I missed something. Nobody but me and the guests were actually seeing the changes. Oops. There's a lesson here. Don't try to finalize major changes when you've been working on a project all night.

Well, let me just say that this post is going to be worth exactly what you paid for it … that being said, I read the subject line "new board theme" and didn't know whether to be excited or disappointed. I know, in the past, there has been discussion about giving opinions and thoughts about news items rather than just giving news. So I thought to myself, hmmm, I like this board. I hope his new topic (theme) isn't too different than what it's always been. So, of course, I went in and read it, and its the look/theme of the board not the topic/theme. As a totally blind guy this has no effect on me so … good! I get to keep going with my regularly, or, if I'm being honest, my irregularly scheduled life. The last couple of days this site has been running really slow on my computer, I have noticed. It could just be my internet connection but I wonder if the process of changing the theme would have anything to do with that. I just thought of something I wanted to say that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread but I don't know how much discussion it will generate so I hesitate to post a new thread. I know I tend to wander off into the weeds a lot on here. I apologize for that. I'll start a new one and if no one has any comment on it then … it can die a quick death I suppose. Happy day everybody!

Sorry if the subject got you concerned for a bit. That wasn't the intention. That's just what it's called. It would be nice if we could clean up the English language but unfortunately that's a bit above our pay grades. I've noticed the site has seemed a little bit slower lately but I can guarantee it has nothing to do with the new theme. If it keeps up let me know and I'll see what I can find out from the Proboards owners. And lastly, don't worry about whether or not to bring up a new topic. I know it's a cliche but you never know what's going to spark interest. I've started about a gazillion topics that garnered zero interest. On the other side there's the KLO flip thread that got 86 posts and was active for almost 4 months. Go figure.

Thank you very much. As of yesterday, the speed of the site seems to be back to normal. And, regarding our language, I do not envy anyone who has to learn English as a second language. It seems that every rule has an exception. I took a few years of Spanish in Jr. High and High School. It is a phonetic language, meaning that every letter always makes the same sound. Here is a humorous example of how English is NOT a phonetic language. If we take the way letters are pronounced in certain English words, it is possible to spell FISH GHOTI … (stay with me). The GH in laugh, the O in women, and the TI in nation. Talk about straying from the topic. Well … people use language when they speak on the radio … right? I know. It's a big stretch!
