I've noticed for the past few days that 103.1 The Wave has been playing songs that would normally be on the "Newer New Wave" show about once an hour. Newer New Wave plays new songs from artists that were popular in the 80s and 90s as well as songs from artists that sound like they could have been in the New Wave time frame. Usually after the song plays, they say "This is a song that would have been played on our Newer New Wave show airing Thursday nights at 7pm". I thought it was an interesting way to expand the play list while keeping up with the classical alternative format.
It appears that there's been a "subtraction" at 103.1 as well: Barb Thomas has disappeared from the DJ line-up on the station's website. That's two DJ'S that have been let go at The Wave in less than six months. I guess it's not surprising considering all the layoffs that have occurred in the broadcasting industry since the Coronavirus epidemic began.

And yet another addition. I turned on 103.1 The Wave today to get ready for Unrest on the Seventh Day and Andrea was on the air. She stated that she was back and was thankful for all of the warm welcomes. I checked the website and it wasn't posted yet, but it was only a Sunday.
I'm wondering if Andrea was just filling in for Cuzzin Brad, the regular host of "Unrest". I know that Mike Summers was working Brad's morning shift last week because Cuzzin was sick, so maybe he's still not feeling well. There was also a post on the station's Facebook page this morning wishing Brad a happy birthday, so maybe he just took the night off and Andrea is temporarily filling in. 🤔

Cuzzin Brad was on for Unrest. He returned to the airwaves last Thursday IIRC.
Andrea mentioned at the end of her show that she would be back next weekend. I think she only has some weekend shifts at this time. I had also sent an email to the station welcoming her back and she personally responded to me saying that she was thrilled to be back.
