The word on the street is that in contrast to where it seemed Jay Leno was going at NBC (out the door), he's actually getting a promotion. Word has it that he's going to get the 10PM ET slot every weeknight for a new show next year.
Are they kidding?
Specifics aren't available yet, but I just don't see a late-night-in-primetime strategy working. It's a different audience. I wonder if NBC is just looking to find programming that they can do on the cheap.
I didn't think it was such a good idea to move Conan to the 11:30 (10:30 MT) slot in the first place, but he might have been making noises about moving to ABC or Fox. One good thing is that NBC doesn't have to worry about Leno being a competitor the way Dave was when he left in 1993. The downside is that if this new Leno venture tanks, it's going to bring down most of NBC's schedule. You can't be a failure in 1/3 of primetime 5 nights a week and expect to do well. Just won't happen.
Now we wait and see.

Very Excited for this. Nothing I watch is every one 9-10 our time. So I will enjoy NOT having to wait up for Leno.

I haven't watched Conan in a long time so maybe this isn't relevant anymore, but I liked him but didn't like the show. He's a really funny guy in my opinion, but he got saddled with what seemed like the Saturday Night Live rejects. When he got the chance to just go off an improvise he was very good. The sketches that they designed for him were just awful and it made the show almost unwatchable. Hopefully it's better these days.

I still like Conan, even though I hardly watch TV these days (should have more time now). I too agree, it will be nice to not have to stay up late to watch Leno, I like his monologue.
