Maybe I've overlooked something in the FCC database, but in NE Ogden 88.7 is nothing but dead air at present, and I can't find any information indicating that KUAO has gone silent or moved their transmitter as KNKL 88.1 has done. Did I miss something?

So, does anyone know for sure why 88.7 is still MIA?

I would be shocked if EMF had anyone local, let alone an engineer, on their payroll. They almost certainly contract with someone in the area and whoever that is will get to fixing the station when they can (likely at a higher price than routine maintenance.) That's probably why it took some time between when there was a problem and when it went completely off the air. There's also not likely to be many, if any, spare parts on site if that's what's needed.

Not sure who handles UT. They can also monitor all of their sites from network hq and do some pretty neat things remotely. They can measure ltos of stuff via IP backhaul Is 88.7 DEAD air or off the air?

Thanks for the info, radiowyoming. I'm not sure where the KUAO transmitter is located, but Rocky Mountain Power had to shut off power to about 3,500 homes in my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago to replace some electrical equipment. Coincidentally, it was shortly after the RMP shutdown that I first noticed 88.7 was off the air. Not sure that the two are related, but it's a possibility.

KUAO is located between Tremonton and Willard Bay, so 20-something miles away. Probably not directly related.

The transmitter is 13 miles west of Brigham City on Route 83 in Corinne. The site is actually about 7 miles west of Corinne. And KUAO is now marked as silent on radio locator, so that means a silent STA has been filed

KUAO is back on the air now and playing Christmas music. That has to be one of the shortest silent periods I've ever seen! EMF apparently does a good job of maintaining their broadcast properties.

EMF does alot better with alot of things then maybe radio geeks, message board posters and some bitter radio guys give them credit for because they refuse to look at them with open eyes and just hate them for buying stations, removing programmign and installing a satelitte dish. (when in reality, many times.. not always but many times, emf buys failing stations and is the only one who has that kinda cash)

Although I was in the broadcasting program at Weber State in the early 1990's and was sad to see KWCR become an online only station, at least EMF bought the license for 88.1 and put the station back on the air. The same can be said for KJJC 1230 & KNIT 1320 and Kona Coast Radio. All of these stations would have gone dark permanently if EMF and Kona Coast hadn't bought the licenses and invested the time and money in getting the stations back on the air. Just because I don't personally care for their programming doesn't mean I can't appreciate a company that has a well maintained group of stations. At least EMF doesn't ignore their broadcast properties like some owners do. Case in point: KDYL, which has been broadcasting off frequency for almost a year now, and recently I've noticed their audio is so low that it almost sounds like they're on air with a dead carrier. IMO, if the company that owns a radio station can't be bothered to maintain their transmitter and pay attention to what their signal sounds like, they might as well take the station dark or sell it to someone who will properly care for it.
