Speaking of Christmas song parodies, two of my favorites are "Rusty Chevrolet" by Da Yoopers (sung to the tune of "Jingle Bells"), and "I Yust Go Nuts At Christmas" by Yogi Yorgesson. I heard them occasionally on the Twin Cities radio stations when I lived in Minnesota, probably because of the large Scandinavian population in Minnesota. And if you need a Christmas parody song to clear a room in a hurry or get rid of unwanted party guests, "Jingle Bells" by the Jingle Dogs should do it.

I remember acquiring a copy of "Rusty Chevrolet" many years ago. No idea what happened to it, but it is (naturally) on YouTube. I think I listened to it 5 times in a row when I first got it and it still holds up. Definitely belongs in the parody rotation.
I could see Jingle Dogs being used as the butt of a joke on a morning show in an MST3K kind of way.

I've been seeing ads for Easy 99.1's Christmas music a lot lately. I think it's pretty clear that iHeart is going all in.
Meanwhile over in the 800 lb gorilla cage.... I'm forecasting the flip tomorrow (Fri 11/15). The last three years have been Fri 11/16/18, Fri 11/17/17 & Thu 11/17/16. Of course in those years that was a week before Thanksgiving. This year Thanksgiving is as late as it can be. I wonder if they'll wait until next week and I wonder if the push by 99.1 will have any effect on the decision.

The gorilla has flipped!!! I tuned in and heard Nat King Cole singing about Chestnuts Roasting, then a Stevie Wonder Christmas Song I wasn't familiar with, and now the boy's choir, I forget the name, is singing the Little Drummer Boy. Merry Christmas everybody!

Love the mutual admiration society. Now that Christmas is available to the entire Wasatch I'd like to ask the participants whether they'll be listening to it. A few sample responses I can think of could be: Yes, because I listen to a station that has flipped and I'll just go along with it even though I wouldn't choose it. Yes, I want to hear Christmas music now. No, I don't want to hear it yet but I'll start listening later. No, I don't plan on listening to Christmas music at all. Something else? What do you plan to do and what station(s) do you plan to listen to? For me, I'm not going to be ready for a couple of weeks.

Since I primarily listen to KLO, I'll most likely wait for Westwood One to flip some time in early December. It will be interesting to see if they make the switch earlier this year, since Thanksgiving doesn't come until the last week of November. Having grown up in Minnesota, I have a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit unless there's snow on the ground first, and it doesn't look like we'll be getting any white stuff for at least another couple of weeks.

I primarily listen to 103.1 The Wave. I know that sometime in December they will randomly play Christmas songs. I also switch to 100.7 and 103.5 so if they play any songs, I'll probably hear them. I will not seek out Christmas songs as I've already been exposed to them in the store.

I don't feel in the mood to listen to all-Christmas music until a few days before Christmas -- especially with the way local radio stations do it.
One year, KSFI did it just right. FM 100 did not go all-Christmas until 100 hours prior. Prior to then they started mixing Christmas songs in a little at a time. And did things like carrying live concerts from local malls.

I'm a dial flipper so it varies with what I'm doing. Saturday, my wife and I went to the Christmas show at the Mountain America Southtown expo center and so, on the way there and back, we listened to Easy 99.1. We have HD in our car. The 99.1 signal was coming in fine but I wanted to know who was singing a particular song so I changed to 99.5 HD2 so my wife could read who it was for me. (I am blind so I'm unable to read the digital display. Don't worry. My wife was driving.) They're playing promos to try and get people to stay with them after Christmas playing a few seconds of songs in their normal playlist. A few days ago I heard them mention they could be heard on 99.5 HD2 as wel. That's something I hadn't heard before. Is Scott Fisher their voice guy? It sounds like him.

A couple of AM stations made the switch to Christmas music today, but one is holding back a bit for now. KANN 1120 is continuing its tradition of commercial free 24/7 Xmas music for the holidays with a nice mix of traditional secular songs and contemporary Christian music. KLO (Westwood One) did a "soft flip" after the 10 PM CBS News, and they're now playing a Christmas song after 2-3 of their regular rotation tunes during each hour. The first two Xmas songs played on KLO were "Feliz Navidad" followed by Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride". I give them about two weeks before they cave and flip to 24/7 Christmas music. :-)

As of 10 PM Sunday, KLO is now Christmas music 24/7. I've heard a couple of gems so far, including Spike Jones' "Angel In The Christmas Play".
